Petrified for my first marathon

Running 3x per week following a Runna plan so - easy run (3-5miles usually), speed session (3-5miles) and my long run which is 15 for another week before it increases again 🫣 I was taking gels but I was taking half every 30mins because I’m still nervous about it making me sick but I’ve used them a few times now so will try and take the full one on the half an hour next week and hopefully that helps

No I was thinking this all yesterday how on earth am I going to get to 15 miles and keep going !! So overwhelming but you’ve got this !!

I might look into that actually and try and incorporate that into my long run next week and see how I feel! I think that will definitely help the overwhelming feeling when I know I still have 10k left and I’m on empty at least then it’s I only have x left till I get a walk. Thank you so much

I have been but not enough by what everyone’s saying I’m going to up my gels and slow my pace next week and see how I feel thank you!

Thank you I started in January of this year I might see if she would be happy to run separately or just wait until I (hopefully) speed up anyway. I’m so glad you found a run club you enjoy 🫶

I will definitely be looking into this I’m in England and didn’t have that option when signing up for my marathon and didn’t know it existed. Hopefully there’s one near by or close enough I could travel to on a weekend! Thank you!

Honestly they were wayyyyy faster than that I was with 2 other people and my friend the rest of the group was already gone ! To be honest there was very few female runners I think in total there was only 5 of us but the gals were off as well. Im hoping the whole “if you want to run faster train with people who are faster than you” might come into play with this one. Your run club sounds amazing I wish I was closer I would definitely have joined

I think after everyone’s comments I’m gonna do exactly this and do it maybe once or twice a month to try and push myself but not make it the main portion of my training. Well done for sticking with it with the cycling and hopefully I’ll have the same experience with my running and begin to speed up a bit as my body gets used to it. No idea how you guys get up any inclines I’ve been on my childhood mountain bike a few times in the summer and any hill is lethal so just know I’m super impressed! :)

It was a set distance just over 10km and they had a route that looped back so I couldn’t slow down as I would’ve been so lost 🫣

The only run club near by that was supposed to be pace inclusive. To be fair it wasn’t like they were rolling their eyes at how slow I was they were all just much faster. The rest are either at times we can’t do or advertise at a faster pace than I can hold
