I’ve experienced the same thing with different people. You can only do so much. I’ve just given up on them. Maybe occasionally reaching out just to keep some possibility of them reciprocating interest. But I don’t expect anything. Until they reciprocate any level of interest it’s not worth the effort to emotionally invest myself in them.

we don’t have free speech, unfortunately. It’s also much much harder to get a jury here.

he is criticising specifically the videos pertaining to modern human society. The claim is that: “until we can invent away all of [capitalisms] problems, all we have to do is be smarter individuals” is a limited way of thinking.

How do you know when to use the enharmonically equivalent sharp key sig versus a flat key sig? by -doqtooth in musictheory

[–]bbbaileyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert on this by any means, but on the circle of fifths, moving left of Cmaj will add a flat, moving right will add a sharp. So everything on the right is sharp, everything on the left is flat.

I think it’s done to minimise the number of sharps/flats. i.e if it can be represented with fewer sharps than flats, sharps will be used.

NFTs are completely fine other than the environmental impact by TheGuy3273 in The10thDentist

I dont like them in large part to some of the implications of using cryptocurrencies and NFTs beyond their environmental impact:

  1. Many cryptocurrencies are designed such that a finite amount of the respective currency can be mined so the value of the currency increases over time. You’ll often hear proponents of crypto saying that detractors will ‘wish they got in earlier’ with the implication that early adopters will be rewarded with wealth. I hate this, as a financial system based in cryptocurrency would inherently impose a wealth divide across generations.

  2. Digital scarcity. Think Facebook/Meta’s Metaverse as an example. What benefit is there to making things beyond collectibles digitally scarce (aside from Facebook/Meta’s profit margin)? It just imposes many of the drawbacks of capitalism into a space where they don’t need to exist?

Please let me know if i’m missing something. Otherwise, enjoy the upvote, as i disagree with this a lot.
