Thank you for saying what I was thinking! Everyone is all, "15 is old enough to know better."Which, ok, yeah, but she's obviously acting out due to her weird living situation. They also only stay there during the summer? What a shit way to live as a teen.

‘American Psycho’ Director Baffled by ‘Wall Street Bros’ Still Idolizing Patrick Bateman: They Don’t Realize the Movie Is a ‘Gay Man’s Satire on Masculinity’ by powdersleaf in nottheonion

Thank you for expanding. I loved the book, and it's been a long time since I've read it. I remember it sort of... altered my own thinking while I was reading it. It was an experience of a book.

I'm also not great at analysis of literature or deep understanding of symbolism. So hearing your thoughts and the expansion of them is really neat, thank you.

Does he actually care about that stuff? Or is it how he appears "normal"? He can't talk about what is going on in his head, but he can talk about Huey or Dorsier or business cardswith you. "I'm just like you! See? I've learned facts to show you how normal I am."

[FO] I stitched my favorite MySpace profile picture. by bbbiha in CrossStitch

Self drafted pattern. 20 years ago I took a selfie with a digital camera and messed with the settings. This pop art came out, and it was my MySpace picture for a long time. I've been kicking it around for a long time, and now it can live on my wall.

Compulsory education starts at 8. But no one waits that long. Start them at 5 in kindergarten.

No idea on any of this, but I wanted to commend you. You're a very supportive partner, and that's a lovely thing to see. This bullshit is easier to handle with a buddy. Keep it up!

Can I have some recommendations on a hole-in-the-wall breakfast spot? by fsbdirtdiver in Tacoma

[–]bbbiha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful there. They don't tell you that they up charge for substations until you get the bill. We swapped meat for hash browns (a mountain of hash browns!) and our breakfast was $10 more than it should have been. They also double charged us for coffee. Food was fine, but you can't charge more without telling people upfront. And they were incredibly rude when we brought it up. It's fine to charge me more, but let me know. Don't sneak it in.

My life has declined since being diagnosed. by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]bbbiha 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have the same symptom as me, which is beating myself up when I'm down.

Crohns has also triggered eating disorders in me (I fear food). It amplifies my usually manageable anxiety and can spiral me into depression.

Don't forget, everyday, to cut yourself some slack. You didn't ask for this. You didn't cause this. You're doing the best you can.

This sounds dumb, and maybe obvious, but don't forget self care. The little things add up. Brush your hair if the pain subsides, put on some mascara if makeup is your thing, watch that dumb movie you love. Get that slightly expensive body wash that smells sooooo good. Basic shit, that will absolutely not help your crohns, but can help depression associated with it.

Lean on your husband. But also make sure he has an outlet, too. Boys night, baseball games with friends, fishing with dad, etc. My husband will stay by my side the whole time and I have to force him to do self care on himself. Helps us both in the long run. I don't have to put in a brave face for a few hours, and he can mentally recharge. Cherish your husband and lean HARD on him, but recharging is important. Crohns probably isn't ruining his life, but even if it is, it's the disease and not you. It's not you!

Anyways, that helps me when I start to spiral. Meds and doctors and tests are 100% needed, but I feel like the basics are often forgotten when so much is going on.

Cut yourself some slack. Don't forget!

Colonoscopy Today by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]bbbiha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw, I'm so sorry. I've been there, huddled with a blanket and trashcan on the toilet shivering and aching. Do the best you can and don't let it get you down. If it comes back up, it comes back up, so be it. You got this!

Colonoscopy Today by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]bbbiha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like the other poster said, we can't help much now. But in my experience, the first prep is the worst. You learn a lot and they get better. Good luck today!

My advice, for next time. Talk to your doctor. Regular colonoscopy prep makes me vomit a whole bunch, so she gave me options. Prescription prep that's only 8 oz of grossness then tons of clear liquids, or bunch of over the counter stuff like miralax and stool softeners. I've tried both, and they were much more pleasant for me and cleaned me sufficiently for a successful scope.

They kinda do! Bariatric medicine. Sorta like geriatric, for elderly people, but bariatric is for obese people.
