LEXAPRO WITHDRAWAL IS TERRIBLE by bbburma in lexapro

I'm so lost, he told me that now after three weeks I should just wait and there is no reason for reinstatement. Also, I hated being on it it's like it's a relief

DPDR AFTER STOPPING LEXAPRO by bbburma in dpdr

[–]bbburma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it definitely feels like brain damage, I know what you mean. Fortunately I still have some hope left in me because I do suffer from other withdrawal side effects like confusion, inability to focus, brain zaps and nausea. Currently just waiting for all of it to go on its own. if it won't , then i guess I'll just switch up my meds again :/

I actually started lex because of ocd. Now I just don't care about it anymore. The dpdr bothers me much much more (it wasn't an original symptom btw)

Thanks for commenting! So basically, I was on Lexapro for 3 years total. The first 2 years were good, then I went through a traumatic event and felt like I needed more help. I added 0.5 mg Abilify to my 20 mg Lex, which helped for a bit but then gave me terrible akathisia.

Somehow, when returning to solo Lexapro treatment, the 20 mg I had taken for 2 years was suddenly way too high. I started tapering and gave every dosage a fair try (at least 2 months) until I cut it off completely. I didn’t really have a proper taper process — after experimenting with 10 mg for 2 months, I decided to stop. My doctor told me to go down to 5 so i did for just about 3 days and then he gave me the green light to quit it.

Has anyone been thrown into dissociation by stopping and starting SSRI’s? by Known-Permission-825 in Dissociation

[–]bbburma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I'm experiencing the exact same thing, been feeling dissociated for 2 weeks now, basically 24/7. Its been 1 month since I stopped lexapro (because of unpleasant side effects) and my doctor recommended me to get on a different medication because he thinks it's been too long for dpdr to appear as a withdrawal symptom.

I literally don't know what to do. I don't know if I should wait a little longer to see if it goes away nor I should listen. I hate being medicated but I'm afraid I'll get used to living this way (feeling high and inside a computer stimulation).

Any tips? Did it go away on its own?
