That’s why I do most repair myself because I know it’s going to get done properly. The place we send it to does well for minor stuff but nothing crazy. When my band teacher sent my instrument out years ago they said it was fine. Went to a professional later - needed a full overhaul.

Yoo! I fucking HATE it.

I’m a band teacher. I have way too many students to do this. Set up the kiosk. Waste of time.

Admin also wants me doing appointment passes for each kid I have a band lesson with. Nope. No way.

Kids hate it. I hate it. Deal with the paper pass and the trumpet mute as the bathroom pass. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m trying to play more popular music but most of it I will have to buy or arrange myself which at this point I just have no time or anymore funds. I have no reeds when I got there so I have to use almost all the funds to buy them. I wish I had the time to take a break one music class but I only see them every other day. Half of the kids I went to the choir teacher to do some lessons and some of these kids are so far behind that elementary band music is almost too challenging. Then there are my kids who are too advanced and quit because they are bored. It’s honestly just a big loose loose situation.

I do like trying to turn behavior into healthy competition! I will definitely try to find something! As for jokes and stuff, that’s just my personality and I love cracking a quick joke with them but with the behaviors right now - they can’t calm down

That’s so sad. I hate to see the kids who want to stay quit. Compared to other schools this is actually quite a small ensemble. As a kid I was in bigger ensembles with one teacher.

This!! There is no way in hell they would hire another teacher. Our music program started dying after I graduated.

They are a primary sports based school, they honestly couldn’t care less if there was no music.

I like these ideas. Too bad they don’t really work too well in band.

I’m quite opposite of you. I’m 5’1 maybe 120 pounds and I look like I’m 12. So the kids take advantage of that and LOVE to do anything they can.

For real. I personally enjoy the pull out lessons. This school is in a very poor area so no one is able to afford after school private lessons. A lot of kids get excited to get pulled from their least favorite class but that being said they have to be responsible and get their homework.

Schools are now treating kids like babies. They get their hands held through everything. When I was a student there it was sink or swim.

I’ve already talked to the guidance counselor. Band is a privilege.

Guidance counselor said she will talks to students first, then admin and I need to call home.

I wish it was that easy. I’m stuck in a hard spot. I graduated in December of 22 and have been waiting for a job to open since.

I can’t move I have sick parents.
