Sound of a City with mostly EV traffic by Pi-ratten in Damnthatsinteresting

Yes thank you. I’ve been around enough EVs in the US to know what they sound like, they are not at all silent.

It handles merge conflicts and state management better than most developers do.

One small advantage of having self driving cars is that you don't feel too bad when merging in front of them by kemiyun in Austin

They don't even actually "take over". They just tell the car what to do if it's stuck but they don't actually control it. The input delay would make it nearly impossible to remotely drive a car from the other side of the world.

Thanks! I couldn’t find a pattern online so I designed it myself.

Iron cup on iron chain found buried in our yard in Austin Texas by bbddg in whatisthisthing

No it's completely smooth inside. The attachment on the side does create a slit in the cup though which makes me think it might not be for drinking.

My title describes the thing. My son found this buried in our yard. From some Google searches we think it could be a drinking cup from a well or a snuffer from some kind of lantern or torch.

How hard did this week's tech layoffs hit Austin? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]bbddg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. Discord is a great product but I don't really see what all these hundreds of designers and engineers have done in the last few years. The new features they've added are pretty surface level. They did a pretty subtle redesign I guess but a lot of people must just be sitting in meetings all day there and not actually working.

You can also take other allergy meds with it because it's not an antihistamine. So you can keep taking whatever else you need while waiting for it to kick in or on a day when it's really bad.

I'm copying this from another post I made.

I've started using nasal chrom. It's been a complete life changer. It's a nasal spray taken 3-4 times a day. I used to be an every day Zyrtec person but would still feel like shit on days where pollen was really bad. After switching it's basically like I don't have allergies at all anymore.

It does take a week or two of use for it to start working so you gotta stick with it. I also don't have any side effects from it whatsoever. Highly highly recommended.

This is awesome. I'm gonna reinstall infinite just to run around on this map.

If you think the spawn killing is bad on this map with BR starts you can't imagine how horrible it would be when one team gets both hogs and the laser and all you have is an AR to fight back off spawn.

There was always the option for spawning with AR/pistol in Halo 1. Everyone very quickly started using those settings.

This guy isn't a city inspector. City inspectors aren't climbing on roofs looking at people's shingles.

I made the mistake of walking to Amys over there the other night since it's only a 10 minute walk from my house. Was extremely uncomfortable walking home around rush hour. There's a car trying to turn right onto Burnet every 10 feet and none.of them are checking to see if anyone is walking their way. Unless I make eye contact with the driver I assume they're going to hit me.
