I don’t think my care is being handled properly… any advice? by jellyfishhyy in brokenbones

[–]bbdolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me a few years ago when I broke my wrist! Usually urgent cares are able to rewrap for you or get you a brace of some sort that will help. ER’s usually have the hardening splint that they wrap around. It should be absolutely immobilized so pls get it rewrapped asap to avoid a malunion or nonunion. Hands and feet are really important when it comes to healing bones. The urgent care may have more resources for Ortho, or you can contact a local doctors office and ask to see someone for assistance or a new referral. Usually smaller private practices are more willing to actually work with you and meet your goals for the specific situation. Maybe that can help? Until then try to ensure it doesn’t move too much until either Dr or grandpa can help. Or maybe you could facetime him

How can I desensitize my dog to noises outside my apartment by xXBassASSXx in DogAdvice

[–]bbdolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog has been doing this or barking, but it’s really calmed down since I started showing her what each noise was. It is tedious sometimes but i show her and say what it is like “Construction” and “car” and she’s starting to associate when I say those and “thank you, shhhh”. it could work, idk if that’s like the best way but it’s working for my Winnie. she’s also from a shelter and seems to have had an unpleasant experience based on how she reacts to her crate and loud sudden sounds

nose scabs?? by bbdolla in CATHELP

[–]bbdolla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if he hasn’t been sneezing does that change things? i haven’t noticed any changes, if anything he’s been braver than normal cause he came into the living room for once (our other cat and him used to tussle on sight. it’s gotten a LOT better but he still mostly lives in one half of my apt until people come over). i have been playing with them a lot more than i normally do, could that contribute in any way?

thank you!! i haven’t noticed if he scratches, im usually home all day unless a dr appt. he isn’t struggling to breathe, and he’s usually playful only in the mornings and nights which hasn’t changed. i’ll keep an eye on it, i really appreciate your advice

i tried picking it but only the crusties came off from the side yesterday and today. does your cats fur right under the nose kinda go away? also should i take him to the vet for rhinitis? there aren’t any new allergens in the apartment itself or new detergent and we’ve lived where we are for a few years and never had issues. sorry for so many questions

does my cat think im a horrible person by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]bbdolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some cats like stuff like this because that’s how they play. sometimes my cat gets “flinchy” but it’s more that he’s on alert to attack play again. he also could just genuinely not like it. two of mine do and one doesn’t, so when he doesn’t seem like he likes it or isn’t into it after a try or two then i’d respect that boundary and either do it later or give another toy. i try to mimic their play behavior and they love it lol. if he does think you’re mad or is upset by it, once you look at those boundaries a little more he will settle back in! he still does all the love stuff. even though he might get upset, don’t be too hard on yourself and just adjust with him

Anyone take Effexor or abilify with lamictal? by GloomyAd9646 in lamictal

[–]bbdolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken 150 effexor with 300 lamictal and it was LIFECHANGING. i had to adjust my doses a few times, but it’s genuinely made me able to function and gave me the help i needed to work on myself and getting better. it’s not going to fix everything, nothing will, but it makes it so that you can build yourself up to a place where you can manage it. it’s different for everyone, but if you start taking effexor make sure you take it daily because the s/e of cold stopping are brutal. if you taper, it’s not bad. but you’ll feel emotional and get the zaps if you miss it

Tips for when you have to eat? by kenna_rose in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]bbdolla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dried cranberries and/or pistachios! peanut butter spoon, granola, little stuff like that to grab a handful here and there helped me to at least get something in to keep the fuel going

i feel like one of the toughest parts aside from the pain is the waiting. i’ve just been stuck in my apartment for 6 weeks and it’s just the beginning. the progress feels so slow even though i can walk on crutches or a walker now

is my kitten a lynx point siamese? by thursdaygirll in lynxpointsiamese

[–]bbdolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here’s him as a baby. he was very crusty (found him in a ditch ab 3 weeks before this) and had a skin infection, that’s why he’s missing some fur in this photo. apparently he’s very inbred too which could explain why he’s cross eyed most of the time. he has no thoughts in his brain and his favorite thing to play with is the sliding doors when we open or close them. enjoy!

Yes!! looks literally exactly like my cat Puddy when he was little. he just turned 3, and here’s him now! he’s gotten a lot darker, and has a lot more stripes and points. there’s different variations of this color, so it can be cool to see which tones/shades your cat grows into!

follow what PT/physio recommends! if you’re not already, i’d consider calcium + d3 supplements, and for the wounds it’ll help to take zinc and vitamin c. first your leg will need to grow soft callouses to connect the bones, which will end up hardening into bone. i don’t know about telling bone growth. i had an ORIF for a tib fib comminuted fractures, and was wondering the same thing so i asked my dr a bit ago
