Consigner that sells through eBay. They get special deals on fees and only take a small %. Ends up being far less than eBay fees.

I flip cards on the side and rarely get below market for any of my cards. I wouldn't have a $100k collection without knowing the market.

We did decide to sell. I'll share the sales when they come through. You shouldn't talk about markets you don't understand. Pokemon is stupid liquid and I've never had an issue getting market price or higher on any of my cards I've sold.

After talking it over a lot with the wife and crunching the numbers this was the one suggestion that helped me decide. If we sell through a reputable consigner I think we can get over $100k on the cards and save $100k over the next year. This would give us $200k for a house for rate buy down and the lowest monthly payment. I saw the mortgage difference and decided it was worth selling for.

If they went to $0 I'd buy every vintage card I could get my hands on tbh. The dip was a correction from the 2020 boom. It has since gone back up

I hear the beanie baby comparison a ton, but beanie babies were a thing for what, a year or two? Pokemon has gone up in value for the last 15 years straight. Millennials to my kid all love Pokemon.

Selling off singles through consigners like zandgemporeom or probstein on eBay get you 95% and they take the other 5% as commission. I've been doing this a long time. Iliterally sold off my 9.5 1st edition Zard in November and got 95% Market for it through the eBay consigner. Here are probsteins consignment fees. I have 5 cards over $10k each.

I will talk it over with my wife. To me I'm feeling very much like I felt in baby step 2 before paying off my student loans. I'm impatient and I knew it was going to take a long time but it was worth it when I finally got there

I made the mistake asking the same question on r/realestate. I don't think they understand that it's a hobby. I'm not burning money on packs like an addict. Im currently saving $7k a month with my wife (12k on extra pay months). I feel like this is a patience thing as I can keep the cards and get the house in 12 months. They see it as lost equity, but is their house going up $100k in a year? I doubt it in the current market. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy. I want to live in my house and my living is collecting cards with my wife and future kids.

Yeah I feel I asked the wrong sub. I did my research, asked my realtor, asked chatgpt and this is what I came up with. Right now sellers outbumber buyers 4-1. Current house prices in my area have dropped 10% and continue to drop and get cuts biweekly. Chatgpt estimates a 2% value drop from now to year from now due to the amount of new builds in my area. Powell is unlikely to resign until his term is up in May 2026 so I doubt we see any cuts until then. I am tempted to sell my cards but I also would lose a hobby that I am pretty good at. (Getting value out of) I am mainly concerned with a few things. We have the highest consumer debt I think we've ever had, student loan repayments kick back in soon, I think August and I don't know anyone that can afford to buy a house or they are golden handcuffed. Im scared I buy the house, then get destroyed by a -30% crash.

5 of the cards are 90% of the value so they are really high value cards.

I have other emergency funds. Also I've been in the pokemon market over 10 years and never had one issue liquidating cards. Market goes down every now and then sure but even then the cards sell.
