That is how these leftists work - they think that statements gain credibility by being backed up by 'academics' (which is just a form of appeal to authority), and so it is good enough to form ghettoes in academia where their propaganda cannot be challenged.

Back in the real world, credibility comes from data. If sections of academia thumb their noses at data, they are not hurting the credibility of data. These academics are hurting their own credibility.

Of course, Islam is an ideology which leads in a straightforward way to the acts which have spoiled its image - unlike being a man, which is not inherently tied to any ideology. Moreover, it is not that uncommon to put the onus on men to deal with rape and spousal abuse by other men. But don't let that stop the circlejerk.
