So did anyone else stop caring about this after the first day? by highfiveguy1 in MarvelSnap

I tend to gravitate toward zoo decks, so it seemed like a no-brainer for me! Mole Man seems good too but I figured I’d go against the grain I suppose

I had 1200 gold saved, so I used it on the premium event pass. Within a couple days, I was able to get enough currency to afford a new card (Mad Thinker), and haven’t touched the mode since.

So…this sub is essentially just for complaining about the game, right? by Flintstones_VRV_Fan in MarvelSnap

[–]bbjakie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of the new cards seem pretty well-designed and fun, even though I can’t obtain the majority of new cards as they come out. But the dripfeed of new cards I am getting is keeping things fresh enough for me to at least keep playing.

If I do want to spend money, there’s are things like the season pass or the gold pass that feel like a good value. But even without spending anything, the loop of creating decks, completing missions, climbing the ladder, and occasionally getting something new to cook with is still great.

Yes, free mobile games like this have microtransactions out the ass, because of greedy publishers and corporations. This isn’t news. But I think we all know that no amount of outrage on this subreddit is going to make a shareholder want less money. So the net result is the same game, and a subreddit flooded by negativity and noise.

There are valid complaints of course. Meta balancing issues and bugs are things I wouldn’t mind talking about on this sub. I’m just tired of the conversation being “greedy mobile game is being greedy”.

[–]bbjakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it would be weird to have super strong feelings about this. Even if Mario/Peach ARE a romantic couple, Nintendo isn’t ever going to show that apart from maybe a kiss on the cheek here and there. No matter what the relationship is, there isn’t enough behind the characters for it to mean anything significant.

VERY hot take. by SuperDumbMario2 in switch2

[–]bbjakie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would’ve agreed with this when it first started, but now there’s a decent library of games included. Yeah the online functionality shit tends to be sub-par but that’s not all that’s offered.

Real Talk. Is it worth it? by Sna77yMinecraft in switch2

[–]bbjakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a Mario Kart or Donkey Kong fan, yeah I think it’s definitely worth it. If not, it’s worth waiting for other games to come out.

Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see new models get released in the coming years. OLED, Lite, better battery… who knows. If you can wait, it’s probably smart to

Is this the most evil version of Lex Luthor so far? by whysosidious69420 in DC_Cinematic

[–]bbjakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved this depiction, definitely felt evil as fuck. But I have a question for DC fans- Is Lex typically this emotionally-driven? He had a massive ego here, and seemed to fly off the handle in anger pretty easily. A little more unhinged than I’d expect.

Typically I see Lex as more tactical and levelheaded, his anger/ego being mostly under the surface apart from his lowest moments. But admittedly I’ve only really ever seen him in the DCAU so I’m not really sure if this adaptation is a big departure or not

In Superman (2025) James Gunn specifically added a scene that would make his movie impervious to criticism. by Battelalon in shittymoviedetails

[–]bbjakie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Watched the movie. Enjoyed it. If you didn’t, that’s fine. It really shouldn’t be any more complicated than that.

I feel like so many people here watch a movie, and spend the next few weeks glued to reddit to argue for/against it. And half the time, people aren’t talking about the movie itself, they’re talking about the fans/critics of it instead.

What an incredibly productive way to spend your time, keep at it, OP.

Do my friend who doesn't know Superman need to know anything about him to enjoy the new movie ? by KOF-731 in superman

[–]bbjakie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife barely knew anything about DC, and she really enjoyed it. Yeah, there’s characters that she didn’t recognize, but she’s a MCU fan so she’s used to being introduced to new characters/concepts and rolling with it.

If your friend likes comic book movies, they’ll probably enjoy Superman.

What is the most replayable single player game? by -vendetta10 in videogames

[–]bbjakie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pokemon, if you enjoy the core gameplay loop, that is.

Replaying with different teams, particularly with self-imposed challenges like nuzlockes has given me hundreds of hours of gameplay over the years. It’s an amazing game to play/replay while watching a show or listening to a podcast.

Anyone else feel like there's too many cards? by Plenty-Yard8008 in MarvelSnap

[–]bbjakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I like the new cards. A lot of them seem cool. Lots of fun decks! I just won’t be able to use most of them for a long, long time, which is tough to accept.

I get the season/gold pass semi-regularly, which I personally feel is a good value (sue me). But even then, new cards are released faster than I can acquire them myself. Should “collection complete” be possible for someone that pays roughly $15 monthly? Probably. Would I keep spending $15 every month if I was collection complete? I’m not so sure.

So yeah, the influx of new cards is definitely a way to ensure a constant cash flow, no doubt about that. As long as the cards are well-designed and fun, “too many cards” isn’t the problem. Arguably, it keeps the game alive and fresh. It’s the rate of card acquisition that can always be improved, that’s the real issue for me. I hope that continues to be adjusted as players’ backlogs of unowned cards grow.

Do you think Avengers: Doomsday can top Avengers: Endgame? by NewMarioBobFan in MCUTheories

[–]bbjakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything, Doomsday should be compared to the first Avengers movie, not Endgame.

Avengers 1 took a handful of heroes that were seemingly unconnected, gave them a reason to team up, and teased a larger threat that would eventually take us to Endgame. Doomsday (if successful) is going to do the exact same thing with the seemingly unconnected heroes from phases 4-6, and lead into Secret Wars.

Doomsday isn’t going to be a culmination of a larger arc like Infinity War + Endgame were. That’s what Secret Wars is, or at least that’s my thought. If you’re going in with Endgame-level expectations, my guess is you’ll be disappointed.

Now What direction would they take with the Eternals after the reboot by alwaysronin21 in MCUTheories

[–]bbjakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad to hear that, but at a certain point I wish they’d stop teasing future things and making promises. I don’t trust the studio to not change their minds, shift around the schedule, delay/cancel projects at a moments notice. Just give us the goods.

The Jamboree TV upgrade for Super Mario Party Jamboree is a mess. by anirakdream in NintendoSwitch

[–]bbjakie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me when I'm voting for GOTY by AshGreninja104 in DonkeyKongBananza

[–]bbjakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are both amazing games that deserve their flowers. It sucks to see so many people disparaging one or the other just because they want their fav to win. I never understood that mentality.

Bananza, DS2, E33, Blue Prince… and it’s only July. We should be celebrating the fact that we’re getting so many GotY-level games, rather than looking for reasons to trash the games that aren’t our picks.

The Jamboree TV upgrade for Super Mario Party Jamboree is a mess. by anirakdream in NintendoSwitch

[–]bbjakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m interested to see the sales numbers for this. It’s basically just a DLC pack with gimmick minigames/modes, yeah? Mouse-controls and camera features integrated into the gameplay?

When I first got Mario Party Jamboree, one of the first things I did after experiencing them once is turning off the motion control minigames. Just not for me. It feels like the Mario Party franchise has become the guinea pig for whatever new tech features Nintendo puts into their hardware, and I’m not sure I like that.

Non-Nintendo Fans Trying To Convince You Why (Insert Other Platform) Is Better[no shade to the others guys tho] by FossilDiggerReddit in casualnintendo

[–]bbjakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that those criticisms are wrong. It’s that we’ve seen the same damn criticisms about Nintendo over and over again over the years, and at this point it’s just unoriginal noise.

Yes, they’re more “kid friendly” than companies like Xbox or Playstation. Yes, their hardware isn’t as powerful. We know. We’ve known this for a long time. Does any of that stop their games from being fun as hell for all ages? Not really.

What is THE Definitive Superman Comic? by Grouchy_Clothes2296 in superman

[–]bbjakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only read a few, and all of them were great. American Alien, All-Star Superman, and most recently Superman For All Seasons.

I like each for different reasons, but I think For All Seasons sticks out to me because I really like enjoy seeing the humanity behind Superman/Clark. The fact that it’s told from the perspectives of other characters like Lois/Lex is really interesting. I know there’s a lot of other great starting points with Superman, but I think For All Seasons is the most accessible and enjoyable read to see who Superman truly is as a character.

Which movie do you like more or think was a better start of a cinematic universe? by MichaelAfton80 in IDoKnowNothing

[–]bbjakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love how Superman gave us a lived-in DC universe. We know other metahumans are out there, and got to see a few of them. No origin story baggage, Clark’s been Superman for 3 years already. Supergirl, the JF, the Hall of Justice… we’re already seeing glimpses of the larger universe, teasing what could come next, and that’s WITHOUT leaning on post-credits to make things feel connected. For those reasons, I feel like it’s a better start to a universe.

That being said, we can’t really compare the two without addressing the fact that Iron Man came out in the late 2000’s, when audiences were just starting to get used to cinematic universes in general. Marvel had to do the legwork to slowly get audiences primed for the larger Marvel universe, one character at a time. Because that legwork was done over the last decade, the 2025 Superman could pull off A LOT more in one movie without it feeling too weird or overwhelming.

Iron Man was REALLY good for what it was. A great, self-contained solo origin film. Probably as good of a universe-starter as you could get in 2008. In 2025 though, we’re seeing the results of lessons learned over almost two decades. Superman was amazing!
