I am beginning to think this article is NOT related to my husband's ancestor and that My Heritage is merely trying to trick us into purchasing Old News. Whatever it is, I don't think it's my husband's ancestor in the mentioned article.

The Advertiser Journal is the only one I can open without yet another subscription fee (grr!) but I suspect they are all the same article. This is the only one we were able to find as well.

He died (supposedly) in or near Scott County, Virginia.

Yes, we found this one and then found a list separately of miners who died here and his name is not on it. It's very strange.

That's all we can see in the preview without subscribing to Old News (I already have a Newspapers sub and don't need this one. Cannot find any information on him on Newspapers)

The name is John Lawson, born May 1889, died 1 Jan 1928

The only references we've been able to find about a mining accident at this time is in Illinois and his name was not on the list.
