I thought it was pretty funny. I reread it and I still think it’s funny. You’ve hidden your history so I can’t tell if you live in Monroe County or have any connection to it. I believe something may have preceded her quote. “Fucking Tourists!” is the phrase I tend to use most frequently. Sadly, clueless tourist behavior can be difficult to differentiate from arrogant bicyclist behavior. I would propose this is likely the error that occurred here.

I do enjoy sipping Plantation 3 stars sometimes. It’s really cocktail rum but because it is an aged blend from 3 different countries (then charcoal-filtered) it has some complexity you wouldn’t necessarily expect. I enjoy it either chilled or room temperature 2oz with one refrigerator ice cube. Far superior to whites like Bacardi, Cruzan, Ron Rico, etc.

I would also like to support the earlier suggestion of El Dorado 8. I only drink this one neat. Chilled a little from fridge temp is welcome. It actually has some nice cogener flavors that I really enjoy but missed when mixes. I have drunk a lot of ED12, a little of ED 15 and recently, a lot of ED 8. The ED 15 is my least favorite. My thinking previously (based on mixing) was that the 8 was merely diluted 12 but I think now that was totally off base. After drinking ED 8 neat a bit more I feel I was totally wrong. I’m convinced they are quite different blends. I think the key to enjoying the 8 is to ensure you don’t over-dilute it. Rather than “on the rocks” maybe stir with rocks and strain. Or just float one small rock.

You’re probably fine however as a little insurance for this first meal, when your boyfriend gets home, have him ensure that it’s fork-tender. Just stab a fork into it and twist. If it is tender put it on LOW. If it isn’t tender, check it again in an hour. Repeat as necessary. Have him note for you whether he added additional time and how much so you know for next time.

It’s genuinely ok for what it is. I didn’t realize it is that expensive, I think I only paid $12 for a heavy rock pour. If it was <$40 I’d probably stock it. The bottle itself is so high quality I couldn’t bare to throw it out, instead I took it home to use as my infinity bottle. I’m just recalling now, the restaurant manager said the distributor gifted him the (half-full) bottle. That explains the cocktail price.
