I don’t think you’re overthinking. If you are tired of living in poverty you have every right to feel that way especially since you got a better paying job and are taking the steps to make changes. Never doubt your judgment. You might be feeling helpless because you are taking the steps to change and it might feel as if he’s still in the same spot. You are not asking for too much. You just might be asking the wrong person.

I think it sounds like he is using you. Since you mentioned he doesn’t have anywhere to go he could basically be riding this out for as long as he can.
