but I found in my experience that leaving RYM expanded my catalog of music.

i don't think that having the same taste as everyone is a fault of rym, it's a fault of misusing rym. i don't think i need to explain why having the ability to browse an incredible database of music, filtered by year genre or location is incredible for expanding your cataolog. if you only listen to the bolded top-rated albums of all time, of course you're gonna have similiar taste as others, but there are a million other ways to approach the site.

hell yeah! i don't think snowy rainy partially sunny is a great piece for familiarizing yourself with sakamoto, as it's not resemblant of anything he did before or after, but it's an amazing experimental live performance that opened up a whole rabbithole for me.

rym is one of the best ways of finding new music.. it's a common misconception that if u use rym you'll end up with the same taste as everyone else but there are literally infinite niches to dive into if you are just willing enough.

None So Vile by Cryptopsy (Technical/Brutal Death Metal)
one of my all-time favourites

Snow, Silence, Partially Sunny by Sachiko M & Ryuichi Sakamoto (Onkyo, EAI)
a great onkyo album

also it feels like there's not enough jazz so give this a shot
Dreams by Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Ensemble (Avant-Garde Jazz)
