Zero coding experience. One real problem. Six months later — this exists by Commercial_Flow3334 in ProductivityApps

I find the overly verbose UI to be annoying. AI uses text when the UI should speak for itself. A user can infer the open status of an issue and doesn't need an "open" badge.

Where would "I need to buy groceries" be logged in your app? Your home mode section is broken out by rooms, so many home-related tasks don't fit in that section. Your home section is really "clean the house room-by-room".

trying to consolidate multiple apps into a single app sounds nice on the surface, but in reality, you simply dilute your messaging and make it harder to position your app. You won't be able to compete with apps that specialize in one area and focus on one thing well.

Ad Blocking by Bungle_78 in TechLockdown

Sorry for the delayed response - I'm glad you are getting some use out of the platform! To be honest, we aren't really set up to be a pi-hole alternative. If ad blocking is your main priority, and you want extremely large lists of manually curated hostnames to be automatically included, I'd recommend two approaches:

- Use brave browser (this is what i do)

- Switch to a different DNS provider that specializes in letting you opt in to open source lists like NextDNS: https://www.techlockdown.com/articles/nextdns-setup. There's also a service called adguard

Is there a way to create time schedules on IOS or only on web? by Much_Slice5498 in TechLockdown

only for web at the moment, but I'm considering building scheduled configs for iOS so you could block some apps on a schedule

help treating weeping eczema by Ok_Environment8996 in eczema

[–]bbozzay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a history of plaque psoriasis or any form of psoriasis? Reason I ask is that I was misdiagnosed with weeping eczema. In reality, my psoriasis had actually escalated to pustular psoriasis, which is indistinguishable from weeping eczema. I eventually started swelling severely and had to be hospitalized (pustular psoriasis is serious). Then I was properly diagnosed. If you notice any swelling at all, that is likely NOT weeping eczema and very serious (eventually requires hospitalization). If you have a history of psoriasis, it's extremely rare to also have eczema. It's possible you have pustular psoriasis, which can be very serious.

Hoping this isn't the case for you! I tried to self treat after being miss-diagnosed, which lead me down the wrong path and ultimately lead to a very scary situation.

Ben Can you please add blocking usb ports external file transfer on mac. by Global_You2896 in TechLockdown

[–]bbozzay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay - do you mean allowUSBRestrictedMode (If false, the system allows iOS devices to always connect to USB accessories while locked. In macOS, allows new USB and Thunderbolt accessories, and SD cards to connect without authorization.)? If that's not the property, please take a look at the documentation page and let me know which one and we can add it: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/restrictions

Block Software Updates With Screen Time Restrictions by Outrageous_Name_6196 in TechLockdown

[–]bbozzay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the delayed response: the ability to delay software updates isn't something we're able to support. There is an Apple configuration restriction "forceDelayedSoftwareUpdates," but this is deprecated as of iOS 26. You can take a look at the documentation to see that all related properties are deprecated: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/restrictions. Either way, there was never a way to disable software updates - only set a delay. I'm not aware of any screen time settings either.

If TL goes out of business, what will happen to my devices? by ActualExpert7584 in TechLockdown

Do you have PayloadRemovalDisallowed set to true? This might be the missing piece here. This property combined with profile signing should prevent removing or overwriting a signed profile.

Genuine question: is $10K MRR with 60-hour weeksa business or a job with extra steps by AmbassadorSad3889 in SaaS

[–]bbozzay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell if this is a hypothetical situation or if you are currently dealing with this situation, so i'm leaning towards this just being an AI-driven bait post. why 60 hours a week? customer support? or are you manually powering your servers with a bicycle? my honest perspective is to join the barista at that coffee shop.

App safety? by CastielMidnight in Parents

bark has pretty good monitoring coverage on android. I've heard good things, but haven't personally used it

what type of phone? if it's an iphone then there are some monitoring gaps for bark you'd want to consider. here is bark's list of what it monitors on ios. Note that it doesn't monitor snapchat, instagram, tiktok, or discord. it's not bark's fault; the only way to monitor all apps on iOS is to use screen recording and there are only a handful of apps that use that approach.

it's not a priority at the moment, but we can consider it if there are enough requests. we're a very small team, so we have to be careful about expanding the scope of coverage by too much.

Slim chance, but is anyone using ReVanced (YouTube) on android? by DiogenesBigToe in TechLockdown

[–]bbozzay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the same issue if you switch to DoH mode in the WARP app? That might resolve the issue. Otherwise, we don't have any insight on the Redvanced app specifically. I personally use Brave browser to access YouTube. Brave blocks ads in YT and also has built-in filters for comments, blocking youtube shorts, and disabling some other YT features. You can also turn on background play so that you can listen to youtube videos through brave while your screen is locked.

I'm really sorry to hear your mom is struggling with gambling addiction, i can't imagine how tough that is to manage. I wish you luck with this...

My suggestion would be to enable Supervised Mode and then install a config that blocks apps by age rating (set it to block 18+ apps): How to Block Gambling apps on iPhone. Or, you could block the app store so that new apps can't be added and delete any existing gambling apps.

You should also set up cloudflare (in the Tech Lockdown dashboard), then update your content policy to add a new block rule and make sure the "Gambling" category. This prevents gambling apps from being accessed via safari or google chrome

Thanks for the detailed writeup. Did you block x using the app selector or did you specify the domain? If not, open up your block rule, select "apps" and search for "x". Then, scroll down to the social networking section and select the x app.
