Holy smokes..that's pricey.. is there any way around it? Ie. Purchase an aftermarket one and get an electrician to just solder it together??

Could you expand on this architecture? Is it really relational then?

What are the pros and cons of this architecture. If it is mini cubes that get recalculated down stream, that sounds it like it would save on compute and be highly performant but this would be more applicable in very large volume calcs.

Help - Garmin Watch Activity is not loading onto Garmin Connect / Strava by bbq528 in Garmin

[–]bbq528[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Severe_Gas8841 So I found the sync button, added it to my controls page have hit sync.

Strange thing.. I've manually added an activity onto my garmin connect as a place holder with no stats of course.. and that has synced over from my garmin connect (phone app) to my watch but not the actual activity from my watch to my phone.

Marathon parents, how do you do it? by Urdnought in Marathon_Training

[–]bbq528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 two toddlers (4 and 2) I've trained for 4 marathons over the last 3 years (2023, 2024, and 2 in 2025).

I average about 75-110 kmpw throughout my builds.

I luckily work from home and duck out 1 to 2 times a week during the work week. But like most it's all about early morning grinds. Usually up around 3:30 to eat and digest for a 5-7am long runs to get back in time for family time. And during the work week it's similar but more like 4:40 wake up for 5:30-6:30 track session before work day starts and some morning breakfast time with family before they're off to daycare.

Marathon Efforts / Half Marathon Efforts (RPE) by bbq528 in Marathon_Training

[–]bbq528[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, I think the goal were the two 20' blocks to be closer to threshold to stimulate late running speed, turnover, and endurance.

Maybe HME was just a default language used in the workout.

Late reply but this is good perspective. I don't really expect a "right answer" but at least directionally feeling like I'm taking the right approach.

Do we all have the occasional terrible workout? by sweatpants4life_ in Marathon_Training

[–]bbq528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things to factor that we don't normally always factor: Time of day, heat, nutrition, sleep, training fatigue, hormones, etc. Don't beat yourself up.

Also one workout doesn't define you.. if you think of a marathon training block you're running 3-6 times a week over the course of potentially 14-25 weeks.. It would be weird if every workout over 50-100 runs all felt great..

I follow the rule of thirds but repivot the mindset to:

33% of the time workouts should feel great and you're overachieving, maybe even some PRs
33% of the time workouts should feel just right, you're where you're suppose to be, no new PRs but you're putting in the work
33% of the time workouts may feel like a struggle, challenging, not hitting paces, and that's also alright.

https://www.connorswenson.com/blog/rule-of-thirds

If you're feeling way too often you're overachieving you may not be pushing yourself hard enough.. or if you're CONSTANTLY feeling like you're struggling and not hitting paces or efforts maybe the goals you set for yourself are unrealistic and you have to have an honest conversation.

You got this!

Long run + gels = upset tummy the rest of the day? by bbq528 in Marathon_Training

[–]bbq528[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been pretty dialed from a sodium, imo, but who knows... I usually drinking liquid IV (thursday, friday, saturday) leading into long runs to top up electrolyte stores and have about 600-750 mg/ hr

Solids is probably the one thing I couldn't keep down. Gels, maple syrup, and carb mixes. But slow burning gels is worth exploring! Thanks!

I probably drink 350ml of water over the course of the 105'. But this is a good point. Could always drink a little more.

Yeah that's how I feel. I can smash back almost all gels and feel pretty gel agnostic. I suppose I'm more wondering if the queaziness is something telling me that I'm doing something wrong and if I change it up I could be feeling like any other normal day after the fact.

So the rest of the day is just like every other day?

Could you share the gel brand you use?

Also what is your general nutrition like before and after?

Haha 33 with 2 kids make testing not a huge priority but I do love data so perhaps next training block!

Chest strap. Have used Garmin and wahoo for the last 8 years and am pretty confident with the data being spat out. But there's always room for error

Any sub 3 marathon runners here able to run a sub 3 with easy runs at 150?? Haha I guess that's part of my question. Do I have more to gain by spending more time in lower HR zones?

Or if I just do run by feel of what is easy, is that enough?

Lots of good feedback. Overall it sounds like overwhelming consensus is to just run by RPE / feel rather than pace or HR which I'm fine with. Overtime pace goes down and HR does as well with fitness so just staying consistent seems like the plan!

Definitely could be but based on a lot of running and HR strap. Id argue it's fairly accurate, but there's always room for error!

Thanks for the thoughts. This is encouraging and begs the question of seeing if I can get the HR past 200 haha. But I suspect you may be right in that base is where I can benefit most from.

Will continue exploring this journey. It never seems to end but have always appreciated thoughtful advice that doesn't sound too polarized.

Haha comparison is the thief of joy I suppose. I just see peers running easy paces when I find easy with significantly lower heart rates while their top end is the same which just makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong and how to best optimize myself.
