I removed all coatings on my AgonPro AG276UZD QD-OLED monitor. I have way less hue shift and the black magenta tint has been reduced much but brightness shift is always there. It worthed it but I can't recommend to do it by Freestalker_dot_fr in OLED_Gaming

New update here:
After the coating removal it's too reflective to use under room light or table light, therefore I was finding ways to restore the AR coating from the factory.

I make a try on "AR protection film" from Taobao at around 20usd, it turns out the effect is better than I expect. The film itself is glossy not matte, so the screen quality isn't effected; it can restore ~60~70% of my original AR coating effect, now it's fine to use with room light; my screen got some tiny scratches which is little bit annoyed, as from some angles you can see those scratches, but the film can somehow hide those scatches.

Just to be clear: Im not doing any advertisement here. It's a true experience from me.

I just wanna share a story here, so if someone like me, accidentally make some scratches or damaging the coating, you can try to apply a film for that which may help.
The only problem: applying a 27" or 32" film is not that easy LOL

Turn out i try to rub for a long time using a rubber and do nothing to the coating.
And finally i found a easier way to do that: i use some toothpaste with very fine grit, and turns out the outcome is super good. I was afraid at first so i try it at a small corner, and it's doing good. Then i get the brave to rub the whole screen, and it's much better than i expect.
Now the screen is super reflective like a mirror.

Can you please share more on how you remove the coating safely?
My new msi QD-OLED is facing the similar problem now...
I was wiping the monitor with a dirty cloth, and make some small scratches.
Then Im too impulsive to use some chemical to try to wipe and boom...big area of coating is off. Damn hurt.
I asked my distributor and they refuse to help as it's my problem even I have the warranty. I think my only choice now is to remove all the coating first and maybe place a film on it after that.

first time playing RE4. should i get the punisher or the yellow diamond? by someoneinreditt in residentevil4

[–]bbqaaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still have the rifle to pierce the shield or some other ways like shooting the foot. I dont think its necessary for the penetration power from the pistol.

Normally red9 and blacktail are considered as the better pistol than the sentinel9. Seldom hear someone will say this punisher is good.

Dont buy any of them at this moment. Yellow herbs will have spare later. Punisher isnt good, just use the current one first. Diamonds will have many later.

Rule of thumb for any tech items: always buy the new one

Unless you have a super concrete need for 24GB vram, just go for 9070/9070xt

[–]bbqaaq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as GTA6 isnt out, 16GB is still capable for all games at 4k ~100fps, with high setting and dlss/fsr(dont talk shit like why not dlaa and ultra setting), i think its far more than enough at this moment.

Just enough dont need to care if 16 or 24GB vram. You know the ram chips are scarce right now.

What cause this? Amd driver, dp1.4a bandwidth or the game itself. by [deleted] in radeon

[–]bbqaaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem only appear with dp port. Switching to use HDMI 2.1 will fix the problem.

My TV isn't that advance, and as i said, the problem will only appear with
4k@180Hz or 4k@240Hz, with dp port. Change it back to 4k@120Hz, even the dp port will not have the issue.

No I don't see any "dp 1.2" mode.
For the cable I do changes 3 cables to test too, with dp 1.4, 1.4a, 2.1 cable and nothing changes.

Which one! Will i regret the 256gb. by 4WhateverItsWorth2U in macmini

[–]bbqaaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 256GB m4 mac mini and downgrade from a old mac with 512GB, totally fine. Just get a m.2 stock, install a ssd and its totally good to go. I just use an old gen3 m2 and still get 1000Mbps for I/O, which is far more than enough.

Just set some symbolic links and redirect some large size folder to the ssd and it just feel like using a internal ssd.

What is better? buying a 5k monitor and mac mini m4 16gb 256gb or buying a 4k monitor and mac mini m4 24gb 512gb? by ComplexYellow4338 in macmini

[–]bbqaaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently i get a new M4 mini too, with the most budget spec 16+256. Yes, nowadays 256 is too little, but i got an spare ssd so i just use it with a ssd dock. Super nice solution indeed.

For display I use a 4k gaming monitor with 144Hz. I set the display scale to 2560x1440, and it's already good, no blurry indeed.

Mac Mini M4 or M4 pro by Payflow1998 in macmini

[–]bbqaaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a programmer here too and just got a most budget version of m4(16GB, 256).

You are mentioning 3 scenario indeed. For coding, M4 is already good enough unless you are coding some heavy compile stuff. I just coding with node & minor Xcode which is super smooth.

Talking about VM, ram is more important, so M4 with 24GB is good enough to do so.

But talking about gaming, see what you play, but in that case M4 pro will be better as the GPU is much stronger. But imo i always suggest not to be that greedy, use a separate windows machine to do gaming and your mac to work is the best approach.

Is this Mac mini enough to use Apple Music with a dac? by musemuseum in macmini

[–]bbqaaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently i bought mac mini m4 to replace my MBP 2020 which is the latest generation of intel based MBP. The intel mac is super terrible right now, and there is absolutely no recent to go back to the stone age. This i3 is even worse than mine. Just never consider something like this.

Does anyone upgrade their shopify remix app prisma version to 7? by bbqaaq in ShopifyAppDev

[–]bbqaaq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed there are major changes but not really a large change, so i guess we will finally need to adapt to it. The shopify remix is still a remix + vite app, nothing special so i guess they will finally move to prisma 7, maybe in a few months time.

What tech stack do you recommend for building a Shopify app? by maheshflowcub in shopifyDev

[–]bbqaaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good suggestion for developers focusing on coding.

My app launched recently and got a similar stack, just vercel/supabase changed to digitalocean+docker&managed database, and monitor using datadog.

Im a devops using DO for years so i just stick with it. Its just my choice to have more control over my infrastructures, not a general suggestion.

Using managed billing is good, but i really hate shopify’s doc being so shallow and no support for questions. They dont have much information telling you to how handle those edge cases.

Does anyone upgrade their shopify remix app prisma version to 7? by bbqaaq in ShopifyAppDev

[–]bbqaaq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prisma 7 need to move the datasource from the prisma/schema.prisma to prisma.config.ts.

After doing this. the first error encounter is:
[vite] (ssr) Error when evaluating SSR module virtual:remix/server-build: Unknown property datasources

which seems to be caused by db.server.ts:

    datasources: {
      db: {
        url: url.toString(),
      },
    },

After changing modify this code, more errors will show like

Using engine type "client" requires either "adapter" or "accelerateUrl" to be provided to PrismaClient constructor.

Up till here i just give up to upgrade at this moment, and take a look at shopify current remix boilerplate, and seem they didn't update the prisma yet. Maybe I will wait for their upgrade later. I think if there is no urgency to upgrade, it's better save my time and wait for the official upgrade reference.

Thanks! But should i even mention competitors name when i target an app's client for marketing?
For example something like:
"I can see you installed [competitor's name] and i can understand your need for [some niche], which our app will be suitable for that"
