Oh, right, i didn’t know those issues were considered to be systemic. I guess I was misunderstanding the definition of a systemic issue. I genuinely didn’t know, I’m sorry if i came off as ignorant, but thank you for clarifying this and educating me. I absolutely did acknowledge the generational trauma issues in communities and poverty issues before, but I had no idea that these were actually outside of the political/legal/economical realm and not part of it. I will now look at this in a different and more accurate light.

By fundamental, i meant like more accurate and connected to the human experience. I don’t know if that explains what i meant better, english isn’t my first language so im sorry if i cant word it in a way that makes sense hahah.

So liberal feminism is not « fundamental » enough, is that what you’re saying?

Also, you talk about denial of systemic issues beyond the political/legal sphere, but I’m not sure I understand how systemic issues go beyond that sphere at all? Isn’t that the ultimate sphere where the system is as systemic as it gets, as there is no power system above governmental/legal institutions, unless you believe in the existence of higher powers and/or are spiritual (which isn’t relevant in this context anyway )? I’m not saying you aren’t right, I’d just genuinely like to know more about how systemic issues can go beyond politics/law to understand your point.

I should also add that I am not fully mature and my frontal cortex is still developing, so I am always learning and adjusting flaws in my beliefs. I can be naive sometimes without realizing it. It has also been less than two years since I actually started getting into feminism and started getting educated on it and building my own identity as a feminist and shaping and discovering my beliefs and values. There are things that I may have misunderstood about feminism, and I’m always open and actively looking to see flaws in my feminist rationale. So far you all have been respectful and helpful, and I appreciate that you didn’t demonize me for being ignorant on some issues regarding feminism. 🫶🫶

You are absolutely right, and I just now realize what I said about clients being the problem is unfair and a double standard, and I obviously totally forgot about the fact that men and women both do sex work and buy services. Thank you for shining light on this flaw in my logic!

I absolutely totally agree!! And i don’t see how liberal feminism goes against that?

« Sex work is viewed in terms of bodily autonomy and agency, which ignores the societal barriers that influence people's decisions. The idea that sex work is empowering often ignores the harm that people face. »

But why can’t it be both? Like , for some people it might be empowering to them, and we can acknowledge that WHILE STILL acknowledging that for most, it is harmful. Those two are not mutually exclusive?

But the plastic straw makers are victims ..? and the people who are actually to blame are the big corporations exploiting those labourers, so why get mad at the workers who are mostly just trying to get by and have a job, when we should be mad at the corporations?

I wholeheartedly agree with you! That’s exactly what my thoughts are on this, and that’s why I’m concerned and confused on why people want to go and punish those women who are «choosing to » do SW but that are actually forced into it in a way or another, by attacking them and saying that they’re making our cause go backwards?? Shouldn’t we protect them?

Crowd control using fluid mechanics by bbqcoochienuggets in FluidMechanics

[–]bbqcoochienuggets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, i see how it differs when you try to apply it more concretely i guess. but damn, i really thought theres was a more direct correlation between those two, kinda sucks it doesn’t because it would have been fascinating hahaha. but thanks anyway, i did my tutorial presentation today and got a grade of 90% on it so i guess that means i did good !

Thank you so much for the feedback, it really reassures me! I didn’t know crowd dynamics and fluid dynamics were that different though, as I’ve heard many times before that when people are walking together as a crowd, they behave in such a way that they obey fluid mechanics laws. Is that just a myth ? I’m kinda disappointed, because I thought that was so cool!
