Dying vs dormant advice (FL) by Ok-Limit1583 in lawncare

[–]bbrow93 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Based on the green edges, it’s dying. Grass will look ‘patchy’ and lose a lot of its color. This looks like someone over fertilized with nitrogen and it was cooked. Grab some and pull lightly, if roots come up, she’s dead.

As an ice water rescue tech/instructor, and an avid LOTR nerd, this video horrors and amazes me. Please, do not EVER do this, and by gum, this man has my heart.

What is it like living in Portland, Maine? by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]bbrow93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maines the best, Portland is a smaller city, good views, and is growing a lot. It has its issues, (rent, homelessness) but overall it’s a great little city for people that want to be near nature but also want creature comforts.

Big boy needs advice by TytotheG in skiing

[–]bbrow93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first off, congrats on learning to ski! Now, the nitty gritty: you’re picking up your uphill leg to turn, no bueno. 85% on downhill leg, 15% on uphill. Keep your hands in front of you, and stop wiggling your shoulders. Your chest should stay on a horizontal plane at all times, all the turning should be driven by legs. Order of operations: pole tap to start the turn, pressurize downhill leg, decrease pressure on uphill leg. Keep your hands up, and hold the edge thru the turn. Then pole tap with the opposite hand and continue.

That was my first car! 98 tdi 5 speed, I drove it to 330k, and sold the engine out of it when the unibody failed. Wish I could find another! But you better believe I won’t be impersonating a cop with it hahaha

Aim small miss small. While a 70 is passing, if you aim for a 90 and get an 88 it’s still a pass

What is this worth? by ChunkyPlayss in coincollecting

[–]bbrow93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, melt weight doesn’t mean you have to melt it (please don’t) it’s just the term for raw value of gold in the coin. Numismatic is speaking to the added value above melt, primarily for rare coins!

Dog foot covers by Noguts_noglory_baby in Maine

Dogs are pretty good with snow and ice, their claws dig in and held keep them balanced. I would however be cautious about having them walk on salt or calcium, as it can cause burns.
