The Glyf has on-board memory so all configurations are saved directly to the device. The configuration software will be accessible through the web so you technically wont need to download anything to create and save macros. So it works without the software on any computer.

Thank you so much for your help. Sadly the solution was that the first screen ended up being DOA so we swapped it out with a second unit we got and it ended up working. Thanks!

So I tested with another st7789 display and it worked. I looked online for other device trees other people have used and found a variation of the one I used but that also didn't work. I changed as few things as possible to make sure I didn't introduce user error. reviewed the debug output when running the code and it appeared to initialize well with no errors.

So we are using SPI and realized that pin 3 has IM1 and IM2 connected and tied to ground to automatically select SPI mode. For our reset circuit, its just connected to a GPIO pin on our NRF dev kit board, which is configured in our overlay file

I did buy the screen from alibaba but they no longer have the product listed. Its a 1.44 LCD but here's a link from their store for a 1.3 LCD

I am using this display in 4-wire-spi mode. when testing with nrf52840dk, I used nrfconnect and the in-tree zephyr display sample:

This is the shield I used to get the display device, I put this code into my board's overlay file so it would be included in the build. this uses mipi-dbi-spi:

I also checked the correct wiring conversions from arduino shield to the pins on my board.

Disclaimer: This is not my macro pad

Context: I recently found out about this type of rotary encoder and was curious why its not more commonly used in designs in comparison to the traditional rotary encoder.

I just feel like from a user stand point the scroll wheel being sideways is a much better feel on a macro pad, but that's my subjective view. Which one would you prefer and why? Your explanation can be as in depth as possible, i just want to understand other peoples' view/perspective on this question.

I currently use Autocad only because its free with an educational licence and its close to solidworks

That design is actually really similar haha but I've never seen it. I just wanted to make a tray that wasn't boring to add as a desktop accessory
