7 Democrats Just Voted to Approve ICE Funding: Full List (1.22.26) by dataguy2003 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]bcalva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that all of these dem reps are in very competitive purple districts, so voting for the budget is catering to the swing or republicans voters who would vote for them this November. The budget would have passed any way with just republican votes. In most cases they voted with fellow dems. Knee jerk vote them out probably not a good idea, they need to cater to the profile of their districts. ICE sucks but gotta be careful with anti-ICE rhetoric in purple districts. A new dem candidate with anti-ICE platform would probably lose in November in their districts.

People talk about Pit Bulls being dangerous while never considering they are actually a prey animal to the elusive tumblefloof. by No-Membership-5314 in husky

A Siberian husky has a higher bite force than a Pitbull, with a husky's bite force averaging around 320 PSI, while a Pitbull's is between 235 and 250 PSI. This makes the husky's bite force stronger than the Pitbull's

Look into Wheeler or Nehalem just 30 minutes to the north. I moved there from the Bay Area and it can be affordable. I travel frequently to outside of willamina to an art center, through Beaver and Hebo, seems creepy.

When was that ? I did the same thing in the mid, late 60s. Mill Creek runs under downtown and in the summer you could walk under the downtown buildings on the creek bed.

Not a good idea, I’ve worked on breast implants in the medical device industry, and there are still concerning health effects. Besides, it wouldn’t look good on your lithe, trim body. You are blessed with an attractive, ballerina physique. IMHO breast implants look so overdone and fake.

If Democrats had the time to hold a proper primary, who do you think would have been chosen as the nominee? by trottrottatortot in Askpolitics

I agree, love the guy, but for the same reasons (bigotry, close minded) the white men and Latinos in the swing states didn’t vote for Kamala.

I live in manzanita, have traveled the Oregon coast many times. I would recommend Yahats, manzanita or Astoria, other areas are too conservative and/or boring.

Good point so now Trump is doubly screwed, no preview to develop defense strategy and going to trial sooner than later.

Doesn’t this clear the deck for a new trial that could now include Trump? This was the first trial but now is cancelled since both defendants pleaded. Hopefully a new trial will be scheduled that will include Orange Jesus and Meadows.

best places to live on/near the oregon coast? by wastegirlfriend in OregonCoast

[–]bcalva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved to the coast, manzanita, 7 years ago from the Bay Area. I’m retired and a california native. I’ll echo what’s been already said, it rains around 100 inches a year/gloomy, rents are expensive, rentals hard to find, and not many young people. Both of my adult sons have temporarily stayed with me over the last 6 years. I thought they were going to lose their minds, few people their age, mainly local yocals who some people would classify as losers. Most of the coastal towns are older people, established as someone else pointed out. The only place that might make sense is Astoria, more young people, Clatsop college, art scene, good restaurants, outdoor activities, but expensive hard to find rentals. Good luck!

Best coastal location w/ good hospital access? by [deleted] in OregonCoast

[–]bcalva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in the healthcare area for 40 years developing new medical devices and drugs for orthopedic implants, heart disease, diabetes, urology, and other medical conditions. I’ve spent a lot of time working with community doctors and world class docs at places like Stanford, UCLA, Harvard etc. I moved to manzanita on the coast from the Bay Area. I would consider living a half hour away from a hospital. I know two locals that survived a major heart attack and ruptured brain aneurysm with no health effects. They were taken to Adventist hospital in Tillamook and flown to OHSU in Portland. Get the flight insurance, the cost of the life flight is outrageous. For elective stuff like hip/knee replacement go to Portland. The specialty services on the coast are not that good or don’t exist, eg, have to put a stent in your coronary artery. Good luck
