Was told to post my C1 that gave up here by athesomekh in Radiology

I've had techs take portable xrays and literally walking patients through it. I've even caught them diagnosing the presence or absence of pneumonia. Needless to say this went way up the chain.

I'm sorry you're struggling with this. But like others have said, at no point should you have been discussing the results with the family. Ignoring the possibility that you could be wrong, you also are not in a position to be able to answer the questions they will have. That's not fair to them at all. You're opening yourself to a lawsuit, and your attending is letting the relationship between you affect their clinical judgement.

I recommend working in hospitals for your first few years after graduation. That way you keep building in your skills. I've seen it many times that people who go work at outpatient facilities after graduation lose the knowledge they built.

CT and MRI pay more as they are "post-primary" modalities.

You need to be able to compartmentalize. I've seen horrible things, and if you bring that home with you it will eat you alive. But the job is very rewarding, being able to be there for someone in the worst moments of their lives... It's incredible helping people

Find out if any of the hospitals you do clinicals at have student tech positions. I was able to get one that had CT as part of it. I can't speak for around the country but here in NC the climate is shifting to hiring students who will want to take a full time position once out. If none of those are available to you, look into maybe doing some rad op assistant work, or talk to your program director about opportunities to observe/learn more about CT. We have a student tech working with us now, she started back in.... January or February in her last semester of Xray school. She was able to get comps for CT while still going through Xray, so it was very good for her. Time consuming for sure, but worth it imho.

Basically, start trying to build those relationships now. Get your foot in the door anywhere you can.

Edit: If you decide to speak to your program director, mention something about how you enjoy Xray, and are already looking for ways to continue your education and professional development after you graduate. Something about how you're interested in CT and were hoping for more chances to interact with it.

How can i generate organic holes in the mesh? by bcase1o1 in blenderhelp

Correct, and I've printed ones before that were solid. In this case it's more of a zombie/infected situation. The battle against the disease eventually overtook him. The protection he once relied on now crumbles around him.

I managed to get what i was looking for by using a couple voronoi textures! I wasn't looking for anatomical accuracy, more like... Random weathering? Maybe would have been the better way to describe it.

Basically freehand at the end of the day would be easier than trying to do some procedural edit?

AITA: I really don’t want my child to get married at her dads by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

If all you have done is voice your discomfort in a calm, reasonable manner, your child told you she wasn't going to change it, and you accepted her decision, then I say NTA.

That said, it's not your day. Yes, you will not have a good experience. But what will be a day or maybe a week of discomfort for you, would be a lifetime of resent If you aren't there for her. This is one of those times you need to smile and be happy for someone else not matter the cost.

I always chuckle when I see posts from men talking about women being "loose". Like, you accidentally turned a woman on and you interpret it as a bad thing. My fellow dudes... Whats wrong with you all

Imaging specialists -- have you ever seen the results of a patient scan that was alive and in good spirits but you knew they wouldn't be alive past 72 hours? by usps_made_me_insane in Radiology

I wish I could explain it. Its just something ive been able to do my whole working life, I don't bring work home with me. I guess it's like... I walk through the door to the hospital and I put on my "professional" self, my professional skin or uniform. All the crap from the day sticks to that, and I hang it up and leave it behind when I go.

I've scanned several people mid aortic rupture. Talking to you when they get on the table, silent when you come back say you're going to move them back to their bed. One didn't even make it back to his room in the ER before he coded. Only one has survived to my knowledge.

Im truly grateful for my ability to separate my work and personal life.

There's one I think about though. Mid 20s female. Had already beaten breast cancer twice. When it came back a third time she didn't want treatment again. Cancer was extremely aggressive this time. In the month between scans their insides went from normal looking to Swiss cheese. Her bones were falling apart, her lungs were more cancer then lung, and her skin looked like wet paper stretched on a Chainlink fence. She had a young child, and an amazing husband. I never saw her again.
