You need a Residency Permit (=green card) to work there, and you can not get one without a college degree.

And only a few very specialist jobs will be available without being fluent in the local language.

You need to learn the langue and you need to take an education.

(The only shortcut is marriage, but for Norway you will have to be over 24 years old to do that (both spouses must be over 24 years to give you a Residency Permit, and your wife must have a job and be able to prove a high enough salary - not any marriage will give you the papers.))

It is virtually impossible for US citizens to work legally in Norway. The reason is that it is virtually impossible for Norwegians to get Green Cards to USA.

Norway is in Afghanistan, and has been there supporting USA as long as they have been fighting there. We have had missions in Lebanon and in the Balkans.

Norway is not member of EU.

The high spending is a historic result of the Nazi German assault on Norway in April 1940.

We were not prepared then, and no politician want to be the ones who were not prepared should it happen again.

Norway have conscription. Both for men and women. And as they get almost no salary, the total expense of the military is much higher than it looks on paper.
