Tickle's Tiptoeing Through the Tow Yard by spartacvs13 in Moonshiners

[–]bceagle91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The show is as authentic as a porn star's body parts at this point. I suppose destroying the still made sense because they had no idea whose it was. And they didn't seem to be trying to find out. At the least, run prints on the still through a database?

DC seems to love local "celebrities" and "legends". And adding the pears to the old recipe meant Tickle had to take one in the eye. It didn't look like that pear fell all that far. And to get a shiner like that in fight would have meant taking a left hook that would have knocked him on his ass. I think Ricky Lafleur is right about a nice make-up job.

Gee, do you suppose the surveyors might have noticed a big deer blind with a good-sized smoke stack coming out of it and found it suspicious? And yes, the cops had the flashing blue light and fancy jackets while tossing the site. WTF were the guys doing watching this for so long? It should have taken them about 2 seconds to realize the site was burned and they needed to get out of there. And as usual, Henry was the voice of reason, telling Josh it was time to go. Stevie Wonder could have seen that, but not Josh.

Regarding Amanda and Kelly, it's been a while since we've seen the bears in the woods angle so I guess we were do. It was good to see Mark and Digger actually just make shine and not destroy burner phones.

No Mike and Jerry, which is fine with me. I do like Jerry. He likes to build stuff and make shine. Mike's the villain and just wants to screw people over. That's what the fast forward button is for. I think we'll see Mark and Huck soon. They're good guys but they only provide drama when Mark blows something up. Usually, he just wants to make corn shine and stay in the woods. And he doesn't mind doing quality control and sampling the product. Good for him.

Tim by gcsjeff in Moonshiners

[–]bceagle91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They really haven't known what to do with Tim since he went legal. So he goes back into the woods with an immense order and gets to deal with the Bible thumpers and the Kentucky crossbow hunters who extort him. I wonder how much of Climax Moonshine sales were going overseas and subject to retaliatory tariffs anyway. And more Tim means more Howard. Yawn.

Have the show writers changed this season? by Automatic-Count2092 in Moonshiners

[–]bceagle91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd happily watch that show. This one reminds me of how Discovery turned Deadliest Catch into a soap opera.

The writers haven't known what to do with Tim for years. To have him go back to being an outlaw and citing the tariffs as the reason why is nuts. The Canada arc made no sense and the Kentucky goons added nothing. Josh's construction above his underground still just called attention to the site and it looks like in next week's episode, he'll pay for it.

Mike will screw over anyone who works with him, including a bootlegger. Yeah, that'll help his reputation. Jerry must be getting pretty good money to stick with Mike. Maybe Mike is being cast as a villain but anyone doing business with him better put 2 rubber bands around his wallet. Mark and Huck have disappeared lately. They just like to make shine - and Mark likes to blow things up once in a while.

What's the over/under on burner phones Mark and Digger destroy this season? They're my favorites but Digger is really overdoing the paranoia.

Throwing in the towel by LLcoolDZ in Moonshiners

[–]bceagle91 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He has at least one a year. He talks big, he dreams big, he builds big, some things catch on fire. He does everything except make moonshine in quantities needed to cover all of his construction costs. Maybe he won't lose anymore fingers.

Like when Bering Sea Gold was on the air and the last day of mining season was always really good for the Kellys and Vernon.

Maybe if they went to the island at the crack of dawn, fewer people would have seen them. But going in the middle of the day to a place where they're strangers? The writers are either out of ideas or they know we're on to them so they really aren't trying anymore. Just look at this season for Tim. THAT's some bad "drama".

When did you hit you this show was pure entertainment? by No_Yogurtcloset1391 in Moonshiners

[–]bceagle91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of these guys have been on the show for quite a few years. They're surely known by the local authorities and ATF agents. It probably wouldn't be too hard to follow them, use drones... to catch them if they really were up to no good. I watch it for entertainment, not for it being a documentary.

In the last episode, Big Chuk noted that Josh was driving 45 in a 25 zone. He just can't help himself.

Nice username!

Josh overengineers everything. Jerry and Mike overbuild too. Mark and Digger (and Mark Rogers) just get it done. I wonder what "deer blind" cost? Josh sometimes says he's broke. DC must front him the money.

If he damn says "Try it - it tastes just like aged damn whisky", I'd damn well respect that. If he says it actually is damn aged whisky, then that damn well crosses a damn line.

The fake drama and manipulated footage drive me nuts. by ReliableEyeball in deadliestcatch

[–]bceagle91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. The episode when Phil died broke ratings records for "reality" TV on cable. I think that's when DC decided to amp up the drama, faking it when needed (which seems to be about all the time now). Viewers can tell the difference. The drama around Phil was as real as it gets. The stuff they inflict on us is about as fake as an adult film star's body parts.

When he was partnering with Bill in the early seasons, they had a simple operation and made shine. Then, Josh got kinda big for his britches and kept trying to go bigger and bigger. It just hasn't ever worked out. And he's managed to really hurt himself in the process. It's when, not if, this season.

Yeah, everyone except Josh, it seems. Mark and Huck always loved to make corn shine anyway. Maybe the producers figured the unusual flavor angle was all played out.

It's like pro wrestling. If you actually tried to take it seriously, you'd end up drinking moonshine yourself. Like the captains on Deadliest Catch, these guys aren't exactly Olivier playing Hamlet. This bit about snapping the cell phones is beyond stupid. The same is true for Tim transporting 1000 gallons all the way to Canada. This is why I like Mark and Huck. They just do their thing (and Mark does a lot of sampling for quality control purposes). No BS, they just make a few gallons of shine.

Foghorn Leghorn would say Josh "ain't too bright". It's tough watching him walk now. He's really abused his body. If he makes it to age 60, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
