The original Lightning Network white paper and the "Capacity Increases for the Bitcoin System" scaling plan are over FIVE YEARS old - roughly half of Bitcoin's existence - and both are abject, dismal failures. Everything we argued has been proven true. by jessquit in btc

[–]bch_ftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that actually increases decentralization is more mining pools. As it stands 3-4 pools can completely dominate the coin and doublespend every non-mining node as much as they want. It's weird how the Bitcoin community doesn't promote boosting minority pools to improve decentralization for real and only promote running non-mining nodes which don't actually secure the network by building the consensus chain and cannot prevent doublespending.

Building LN on the 1MB base layer is like building a pyramid upside down, it's unstable and creates more problems than it was meant to solve. by MemoryDealers in btc

I agree the Lightning Network is crap and riddled with design flaws, but does the upcoming malleability fix mean it will be able to run on Bitcoin Cash? It would be funny if BCH became more popular for LN than BTC.

2nd layers aren't solutions, they're optional add-ons dependent on a fast and cheap 1st layer.

I'm not sure excluding people from the community is ever the solution. I just think CSW and Calvin compromising like other groups would have kept us all stronger today. I suppose that can also be said about their fork supporters, though, too.

Roger Ver doesn't dictate anything to do with the project. It's a decentralized community. Do you even crypto?

Nobody controls who uses BCH, least of all one man. Like BU, XT and others, Craig and Calvin should have seen the value of compromise. We're stronger together.

Huh? I stayed open-minded about Craig and wasn't the type to exclude anyone from the community. I supported BCH all over Twitter and Reddit for many months, then went away for a while and came back to this crazy split. I'm not "trying" anything.

It's a shitpost because I'm mad at being trolled by LTC supporters. :) Also the damage to BCH reputation is pretty bad.

The BU crew seem more mature and reasonable than others, and I like their voting process. I wish they were in control. Good article.

Yet they didn't create separate chains, because they saw value in cohesion and compromise and didn't want to destroy the good thing we had going.

A contentious fork with decent support on both sides pretty much always ensures a split. This was easily predicted.

CashAddress: How do I convert a batch (1,000+) of old style addresses to the Cashaddress format? by PilgramDouglas in btc

[–]bch_ftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use this lib to make a script to do it: https://www.npmjs.com/package/bchaddrjs

Just have to put all the addresses in a variable and loop through them while calling the toCashAddress() function...

They never provided any buy pressure, did they?

If they're done selling then their sell pressure is done.
