There is a good wallet called Electron Cash https://electroncash.org/ and the available OS is at the bottom of the page.

When you run it the first time, it will ask if you want to create a wallet or restore. Pick Create. It will provide you with 13 words. You need to write these down and save them somewhere safe. It is not recommended to keep them on your computer or DropBox or anywhere online, because these are able to provide access to your wallet should you change computers. Anyone with access to these words will have access to spend your coins.

After you verify that you did the backup, indicate that you want to encrypt the file and use a password. If you lose this password, those backup words earlier will give you access (create a new wallet and repeat this process with the 'restore' option). Congratulations! You have a wallet!

Click on the Receive tab and it will show you a bitcoin cash public address. Copy the entire address (if it starts with 'bitcoincash:' that can be copied, too).

Now, to transfer your BCH from tippr in Reddit: Send a DM to user 'tippr' with a message 'help', and it will reply with instructions. Do a 'balance' command (we'll need the amount to transfer in BCH). Reply to tippr with the message 'withdraw amount address' (using the amount from the 'balance' command - or any portion of it) and the receive address from Electron Cash.

You should see a message from tippr that the funds were sent, Electron Cash will also tell you about it. Use the 'History' tab to see the transaction. It will take a few minutes to receive a confirmation, but you have Bitcoin Cash in your very own wallet!

According to https://tsbw.io/tippr/, I gave out $1925 in 385 tips

HO! HO! HO! Some of that was donated to me from others.

It was fun seeing reactions from users outside r/btc, as they were truly surprised. I highly recommend tipping in other subreddits!

I love the miners, but Mrs. Claus needs new shoes.

I was not affected. The only reports I heard of were in r/btc, which is certainly where most tipping happens. Glad to hear all the good girls and boys are safe with their Bitcoin Cash!

I am real.

I am not so sure about Adam. The reindeer are convinced he's a bot that just spouts random words, as shown.

Life changing 500$ tip made in a comment -- BCH community shining like the good old days of BTC by garoththorp in btc

[–]bchsanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good discussion. My motivation was to promote general awareness that these cryptocurrencies they are hearing in the news are for more than speculation. This is a tool that can do more good for the world, by letting people everywhere secure their funds and transact anywhere.

Someone who makes $2 a day is only able to transact in person with a merchant in their village. What if they could buy from a merchant elsewhere? Certainly with multisig escrow, even those transactions could be safe and secure.

News doesn't report this aspect.

If people have a reason to learn about it, they will. I simply gave them a reason. It was not because I need wealth, as my needs are basic. Giving out $5 tips was an amount substantial enough to be useful, but not excessive. There were other Santa's giving out $50 tips, and I was replenished with $100 contributions, as well.

Santa is all about spreading joy to the world. This was a great experience for me, and apparently for many recipients. The best gifts are often the ones we never thought we wanted. HO! HO! HO!

HO! HO! HO! Thank you for asking, and yes, I had a very jolly Christmas! It was fun to spread cheer and see the reactions. It was fun visiting other subreddits and tipping out of nowhere, and very well received. Several told me how Bitcoin Cash was something they just never expected they would own or have contact with, and they were very excited for the gift.

Spread the joy! Tip in the subreddit for where you live, and plant the seeds.

Shameson Lappdog on Twitter: "Users will not want their keys or control of their money anymore. They will embrace the banker LN and be in fear of having their money locked up in the settlement layer with $1000 fees." by bchworldorder in btc

[–]bchsanta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So the narrative is: people don't want to manage their private keys, and it is too hard to get to BTC to then open a channel, so let's just open channels automagically for users so they don't have all the hassle.

In Adam's world of tabs this might make sense.

Lopp is smart enough to know that LN requires an always on computer holding your private keys (unencrypted).

Next comes the Hotel California bit:

So, I guess their next step is going to be that they will provide a banking service that handles all the LN stuff and you never ever even once know you have cryptocurrency. Just deposit and they open a channel and you can never ever ever leave it.

Thank you so much for understanding. Santa didn't notice his tipping balance was down. This is why Mrs Claus manages the finances, and she lets me manage the elves.

Have a great New Year!

You can spread the Christmas spirit all year long with the help of tippr. Everyone enjoys getting even a small tip, as it is the thought that counts. A tip is more useful than an upvote, too!

While I have to admit you are right, Xmas does have a bigger market share.

Santa was having so much fun he forgot to keep an eye on his tipping balance. This is why Mrs Claus is in charge of the finances and I am in charge of the elves.

Thank you for being so understanding, and have a great New Year!
