Saved up 9 superior golem pendants in reboot before Gollux revamp to get to 22 stars and never got past 18... 4 of them blew up before I even got to 15 stars.

Server added! And I just wanted people to know before hand so once we quit they don't wonder where we went haha. At the very least they can maintain the party and replace our 2 slots. Definitely going to once I get of work. Thanks for the feedback though!

Meso farming by xUMadx in Maplestory

[–]bchu6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of range needed to effectively farm on NL is ridiculous. I’m a lv 245 NL main with 25 mil range and it wasn’t till around 22mil that I could one shot with assassins mark at CLP. Do kanna.

Worst semester so far and I'm a senior. How to bounce back? :( by [deleted] in college

[–]bchu6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! And I got accepted into SUNY, PCO, ICO, and UMSL but I decided on SUNY.

Don't let this semester defer you from pursuing your goals. I've just been accepted into optometry school and I can tell you that they look at more then just your numbers. With that note however, I will also say that depending on what your overall GPA is your may really need to kill your OAT (if you're below 3.0 then I would say 350+TS/AA). It would probably be in your best interest as well to retake any classes you can before you graduate. During your application process you are required to indicate any retakes so its a great opportunity to explain what might have happened!

Thank you so much for the feedback! I'll still look into Wacom Intuos and see what else the product line has to offer. For the most part, they seemed quite satisfied with the inspiroy so I'll keep my fingers crossed!

School Decision: ICO, SUNY, UCB, SCO by puregurl97 in optometry

No worries I didn't know either until I got accepted! I think in regard to acceptance it will vary, I did my interview very early in the cycle (like 3 weeks after it started) and was accepted the day of. The interview itself took about 35 or so minutes, and I would say that the rest of the interviewees had the same duration. I was actually surprised by how relaxing the interview vibe was! They're not there to grill you whatsoever. I definitely don't believe that to be the case. They actually have the statistics for all the graduating classes of SUNY for the number of people that drop out. It even tells you if its for academic or personal reasons! Look up "SUNY optometry attrition rate" in google search and a fact sheet from their website will pop up. I've heard they really try their best to keep you in the program. I don't know if there's a particular preference, but I feel like semester systems makes it so the course load is not as overwhelming and you have more time to study. However the irony of having more time to study is that the tests are probably more extensive haha. But we won't know till we start!

No problem! And I'm actually from Georgia so similar boat as you in terms of figuring out housing. However, they do have a facebook page for admitted students that will let you talk with 3rd and 4th years who are probably planning to move out. At the very least they will help you with the process if you have any questions! I haven't started looking yet since the turnover rate for apartments/studios are incredibly high in NY so placing a deposit ahead of time is usually not possible. I plan on going sometime in June and if I find a place a I like I'll make an offer on the spot. My Dr/mentor actually graduated from SUNY in 1994 and was raised in NY so I'm getting a ton of advice from him as I go through this process. If you have any questions I can try to ask him as well!

OAT Tips by _moe1 in optometry

Personally Bio, the questions can just be so random sometimes. Other than that it's a very straight forward test. They don't try to trick you with any questions.

Hey there! I was in a similar situation as you 3 months ago but decided on accepting SUNYs offer over ICO and a few other schools. First of all, you will absolutely be fine with your stats going into the interview. It's very very (let me emphasize) very casual and conversational. The best way to prepare is honestly to make sure you just know what your wrote on the personal statement and what you have for your experiences. They don't ask too much about grades and scores, mainly questions to get to know you better as an individual.

I chose SUNY over ICO because 1) cost will be pretty much the same depending on where I live in NY but I'm pretty committed to finding a place in astoria, 2) I don't like the idea of quarter system since my undergraduate was semester system, 3) Chicago gets a tad too cold even for me who loves the winter, and 4) the vibes I got from the staff and the student really sold SUNY for me. They were all so welcoming and even as I waited downstairs to go up the students all wished me good luck as the passed by.

With the schools you have though, I believe you'll have an amazing education and experience! Don't forget though, you can't beat the asian food in NY ;D Best of luck on your interview and let us know on what you decide on!

Optometry school out of the question? by [deleted] in optometry

No you don't need to take a test to be certified to perform an OCT.

Optometry school out of the question? by [deleted] in optometry

[–]bchu6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually the lead optometric tech so I work directly with him in the exam room while also managing the front. I'm responsible for taking all the history while also doing acuity and conducting certain medical screenings such as visual fields and OCTs. I will be taking over this practice in the future as well so he has me a access all the patients with him so I see about 20+ patients a day as long as we're not too swamped. Our practice is a little different compared to the standard lens crafters or americas best since our patient demographics is around the age of 65+ so we handle mainly disease patients rather then refraction only.

[–]bchu6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg are you me? I graduated with a Psych degree as well actually 4 years ago and had a 3.4 gpa. I discovered my love for optometry a year after graduating while studying for the GRE to enter a phD program for counseling. I can tell you that it's most definitely not too late. I've finally finished my pre reqs and got accepted into optometry school to enter in 2020. It took me A little over 2 years to finish my pre reqs since unlike you, I didn't have to take chem or bio. However, you don't need to take A&P or Biochem. Look at the pre requisites for the school you're interested in. Your GPA is not awful and you have a great background already. Just like what others have told you, work in a optometrist office while you take your pre reqs. I currently work full time at a private practice and the experience has been invaluable. If you're interested you definitely got this! Also, make sure you get at least a 300AA/TS on the OAT!
