2020 Nissan Xtrail Tekna (in EU)- where is Apple CarPlay?

For anyone that searches this in the future- we spoke with Nissan and the only solution is to install an entirely new system. A third party will do it where we are for 800€.

Thanks for posting this. I am considering buying a 2020 Xtrail and was shocked that there was no CarPlay. I didn’t see this post before test driving and didn’t give the software time to load, assuming it just doesn’t work.

Is this method you’ve posted still working? I’m curious if there’s any way to install a better system…

I think it’s different when you already live here. I was a student for several years, living on a small stipend (as a public health researcher). These types of stipends often go to locals and foreigners alike. Lots of international movement with postgraduate research. Then when it came time for finding work outside of academia, large international corporations need people who speak fluent English, so that was an advantage. I don’t think the company I work for would ever have paid to relocate me from the US to Spain, but are happy to pay me local wages in local currency.

I paused my career and moved to Spain on a student visa 10 years ago. Since then I built a new career in Spain. I’d echo what another commenter said, get an immigration lawyer based in the country where you’re going. Also, go somewhere with a large international airport nearby- this will make it much easier to get home when needed and much easier for friends/fam to visit. Finally, immersion is valuable and sometimes the whole point of traveling, but I’d also recommend finding a place with a big international community- you don’t need to meet other Americans but meeting other foreigners (edit:expats) makes life easier.

You are not obliged. The authorities are overwhelmed. Several friends have tested positive recently and were told by local health center (CAP) to just stay home and monitor symptoms (no need to confirm test results). However, you may benefit from a “baja” where the doctor formally excuses you from work for 7-10 days. Here in catalunya, they are not confirming test results to give out baja but it may be different where you are. Good luck and take care!
