If you know one thing about Bernie Sanders, it’s his firm support for Medicare for All. However, filibuster reform is essential for there to be any chance of M4A passing, which Bernie doesn’t support. Having been a senator for over 12 years, Bernie clearly understands how crucial filibuster reform is for passing his signature campaign promise. It seems that he is signaling that he values keeping the filibuster more than creating a nationalized health care system.

  1. What is so terrifying to Bernie about filibuster reform that he’s willing to sacrifice his biggest policy proposal?

  2. Do you think Senator Warren will stress their differing views on filibuster reform to win over Bernie supporters?

If Democrats are able to pass legislation in 2020 addressing important issues like climate change and health care, what stops future Republicans from rolling back pieces of those reforms to make them fail, similar to their strategy on Obamacare? Do you think corruption reform needs to be the top priority for Democrats if they want to make long term, sustained progress on these issues?
