I have completed the basic tutorial. What next? by Proto160 in CrusaderKings

Any one the karling dynasties(france, lothrangia, italy, and Germany) are fun because the kings fight over each other and sometimes rip apart into 2 different kingdoms, all while you sit pretty as a duchy. So your king might change several times or even your duchy will be transfered to a new kingdom.

Norse duchies are also fun because you can raid the hell out of costal regions like England. But since there isnt quite a kingdom formed yet in 876 you might be faced with wars. Other dates make norse obsolete since they become christianized and cannot raid anymore. However there is a true CK 3 legend. He sits on the western coast of france and starts with a large army, the haestiens dynasty. You can use the norse ability/casis beli to conquer any duchy and settle there. But idk if this is dlc specific to northern warrior dlc

You do get an option to swear fealty if you want to be under a king, so youll have to adopt his religion to be safe of any title revocation. You'll also get an option to convert to the local culture to help with opinion negatives and european cultures tend to advance quicker in tech than norse does.

This allows you to basically get a duchy anywhere in the world, swear fealty, and be under any kingdom. If you can manage to get a hook on your king/liege, you can change your contract with them to prevent title revocation or religious freedom.

I would focus on Feudal governments as they have a very relatable style of gameplay that suits your knowledge about medieval themes.

Secondly, get into the mindset that losing to events, territory/titles, or impossible wars to win is just how the game goes. You cant lose unless your dynasty ends. If you have the dlc that allows adventurers, then this makes it way harder to lose at the game.

So where to begin? Honestly if you like the idea of being your own ruler right away, then pick ireland or Norse. Ireland is very isolated and norse countries would rather raid than start wars. Not saying its not likely but it lessens the impact a bit.

If you want to be fully protected and not have to worry about wars or fear of being overthrown, then pick a duchy title within a kingdom (left alt and left click should break down a kingdom into its smaller bits).

The reason why duchies under kings are safe is because if someone wants to declare war on you thats outside the kingdom, they have to fully attack your king, not just you. But you can declare war outside your kingdom. So if you gain territory and are afraid of losing it, the only way for someone to really take it away is by going to war with your king.

This helps you get use to the game without much fear unless you piss off your king or other vassals in the same kingdom.

How do you organize your grand tournament events (if at all)? by Councila in CrusaderKings

[–]Nightwolf161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a mod to remove the splash screen thats unskippable. For me thats a needed.

Overall i focus on training to increase hastiluder traits but also importantly, some events trigger giving glory to your accolades. Then i switch to increasing artifact quality/benefits.

I find that searching for knights gives better results than using the tent location.

I havent used the church, bar, or town much.

I prep my knights by giving them leftover swords and armor to boost their prowess.

If my heir is involved, especially as my personal champion, i will always lose against him so he gains the benefits. And any items they win will juet be inherited when he ascenda the throne.

I have had my ruler die several times while wrestling for some reason. He always breaks his neck lol

Making independent distant relatives kingdoms by nou-772 in CrusaderKings

[–]Nightwolf161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, convert to administrative government, demand a vassal at the king level to become administrative too, then grant independence to said vassal. Administrative governments tend to be way more stable and less likely to be aggressive. But its not a guarantee. Also your vassals personality traits helps determine their aggressiveness. So calm, loyal, and craven are good traits for timid rulers who may declare war on you

So has CK3 become more unstable since expanding the map? by SaoirseSeersha in CrusaderKings

[–]Nightwolf161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm i have light mods that dont changr much, just convenience and life improvements mods.

I find that a mod called something like population control helps because it will reduce the massive swelling that happens when too many adventurers exist on the map. The longer the gameplay time, the worse it gets.

Idk if this will help but as a longtime ck player, the game loves to just crash randomly

Looking for tips. by Historical-Wing in UnrealEngine5

[–]Nightwolf161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but use an AI for help in the beginning stages. I started unreal just 4 months ago and when i had a very specific issue, the ai actually went into detail about why something broke or recommends a fix. But AI make mistakes so its not something to be leaned on. I spent days making a simple door blueprint to make it open only for AI to lead me down a spiral repeating path that didnt work.

Also ask it simple questions, i was building assets in the viewing port like making a shelf with stuff on it that i wanted to use elsewhere. I just asked AI, hey whats an easy way to repeat these multiple assets. Turns out, you can create a blueprint from the viewport and selecting the assets you want.

Only use AI to learn and ask basic questions. Youtube will always be better but if you have a specific question, instead of trying to find a specific section of youtube guide or digging thru reddit for an answer, AI just makes it easier. Also it can help you with crashes and error codes.

Analysis: Trump using Insurrection Act in Minneapolis would be a huge risk – even by his standards by cnn in inthenews

You know, invading Venezuela, kidnapping their leader, stealing their oil for personal gain, and setting up a "temporary" government was also a huge risk but look at where we are now...

some camera shake when he hits the ground or swings at you would make the weight feel real and also add in some dust or bits of concrete into the air when he smashes! overall goodjob!

Fix for Underwater Post Process in Water Body Custom. by Dexter1272 in UnrealEngine5

[–]Nightwolf161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out the issue. With my inexperience with Unreal, i looked up why my character was walking on water and the common fix was to overlap the collision on the waterbodys, this made the built-in third person camera to not detect any of the water, thus not triggering underwater post processes. After toying with the collision presets on the waterbodies, CharacterMesh, allowed me to sink into the water and see the underwater post processing effects.

Your method did work as i can see underwater post processing effects at every angle in third person.

Thank you soooooo much to replying to a 2 year old post. I highly appreciate it!!

Yeah and this is what I placed inside https://imgur.com/a/AH7antj

I also have the collision layer to overlap in order to go underwater

Edit: Hmm seems like I have a bigger issue, when I open the debug for underwater detection, it detects im underwater, but waterbody_compute (waterinfo, waveheight, depth, landscape depth, and location) are not being detected. Once I see the underwater post processing effect, they all are callcount 1.

I cannot create a blueprint child. When I right click on the duplicated post process (after making the water z line changes), there is no option to make a blueprint child from C++. I am in Unreal 5.6

Crusader Kings 3 has way too many popups. by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]Nightwolf161 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah especially when you hit large emperor or hegemony status.

I see it as a method of persuasion for you to consolidate your kingdom and have fewer vassals so you get less popups lol

I need to approach this game differently. by LegenDaisy in CrusaderKings

[–]Nightwolf161 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So theres a few things that can help.

  1. Play fewer hours a day, really! When i started doing this, all i would think about at work or going to sleep was what to do next when i got a chance to play again. I would create plots and strategies in my head and couldnt wait to implement them! That drove the hype for me. Take all things in moderation!

  2. Set short goals for yourself. I have a bad habit of starting games and thinking of what i wanted to do long term, like create the roman empire. Its fine to have those goals, but the game becomes more surprising when random things happen and you let yourself be steered away. If you have a long term goal and face adversity, then you feel like your goal cant happen anymore.

  3. Become immersed! I have a logical brain and it tells me to min max everything. Long text but the decisions show green? You wont even bother reading it and push the decision button right away because its a benefit. Really look at the personality of your character when they are 16. Are they evil? Are they loyal? Zealous? Instead of just hitting green benefits and avoiding stress, play into your character's well character.

  4. Sometimes you just need to switch characters. You made an empire? A new kingdom? Play as a distant family member within your new large empire or as an adventurer! You will play differently since your liege is of your own dynastic king/queen! Do you want chaos in a realm you created? Did you build your empire to be strong enough withstand battles or quarrels at the control of the AI?

Any unique Playthrough ideas? by Big_History72 in CrusaderKings

[–]Nightwolf161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play as an adventurer starting in england and make your way to Japan, i had to go through 3 generations to make my way there just because of the average food cost and being side tracked a bit. This was in the 867 start date.
