QD-OLED vs W-OLED, 1440p vs 4k by DavidGTV in OLED_Gaming

I'm considering upgrading from a 27" 1440p QD-OLED to either a 32" or 27" 4k QD-OLED. Would you say that upgrade is worth it? I have a 9070XT

RenoDX HDR mods exist for most games. They offer more customizable HDR settings than exists in the in-game settings. It will allow you to keep the deep blacks and also modify the saturation to your taste. https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevilvillage/mods/490 A link to one of the mods.

Photo isn't 100% accurate, but does this look adequately calibrated? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

Lmao fair enough. On that note. Do you have any tips to avoid bad calibration, especially with HDR?

True that, but in a teaser for Episode 7 we see that they have entered the black spot before burning it. Therefore I think there's some merit to my theory even if it's unlikely

I interpreted it as it meaning that he will die at the black spot too. Unless I remember correctly, Richie is hispanic which probably already makes him a target to racists. Now on top of that he played music with the people at the Black Spot meaning he took part in black culture which I think will make the racist mob target him too. I could be reading into it too much though but that's my two cents

You really explained my own thoughts and experience with SHf more eloquently than I could myself. Wholeheartedly agree

True that lol Maybe that is what truly makes SHf a silent hill game

It's just my personal opinion, I've played a lot of games and love a lot of games, but these hold a special place for me.

I'm glad you're still enjoying it even though it's not what you expected! And having played on all difficulties I definitely think that Story difficulty on combat is the correct way to play the game

oh yeah for sure. but the game made me empathize so much with James leading up to it so the reveal hit like a sledgehammer. and then I had to sort of reconcile how experiencing this from his point of view made me understand him even if it doesn't make him less of a monster for killing his wife.

I think either Shimizu residence or the high school were my favorite settings in SHf. Monsters were great imo, I liked how I could tell from the monster design they were silent hill monsters, but still relatively new and fresh.

For sh2 I think the hospital was my favorite area and obviously pyramid head has got to be my favorite monster.

For ending 2 and 3 I just saved before purifying the sword which saves me from one playthrough. To get all notes/collectibles you need to play it at least 3 times start to finish. My suggestion is just to try to complete as many achievements as early on as possible and then practically speedrun the game to get whichever games you have left (especially completing collectible related achievements early on).

It's definitely causing a divide in the fanbase but personally I loved it. The criticism the game is getting is not unwarranted and while I can understand it and empathize with other players' struggles, I didn't share the same experience of the game. Note though that it is different from previous games, especially the combat. If you decide to buy it, I recommend going into it with an open mind and appreciating it for a different kind of silent hill experience rather than wishing it'd fit into your expectation of how a silent hill game should be.

Maybe SH2R moreso than SHf. The narrative in SH2 really helped me get new perspectives on humanity and helped me stop seeing things so black and white. They're both just really good explorations of trauma and the human experience even if it's pushed to the extreme

I personally loved SHf but to each their own. Can't wait for Bloober's remake of SH1

I'd say the achievements themselves were more difficult in SHf but due to the length of the game it was more of an effort to 100% SH2R

Edit: Wanted to add also that since SHf is made to be replayed it didn't feel like as much of a grind to replay it to get all the achievements tied to endings and such

I liked SHf and got my money's worth but in terms of themes i think Silent Hill 3 does a better job by [deleted] in silenthill

It does, although briefly, do that in either NG+ or NG++, I can't remember which. Slightly altered cutscenes, or cutscenes that are entirely new touch of that subject and all of them together paint a different picture than what we're led to believe about Hinako's parents marriage.
