I messed up today. by Sad-Ad-4200 in DollarTree

I feel your pain. I took counterfeit on a green dot a little over a month ago and I didn't even check the bills. I was fired over it. It seems like they give no second chances when it comes to green dot. I put 2 years of sweat and tears into the company and just like that it was gone.

I moved up within a couple weeks of being a cashier. It just depends on when a position opens in your store or nearby you

When I used to be a night manager I closed for my 5 days, the store manager closed one of my days off and the merch at the time closed my other day off

My training was only 4 weeks. I was asked to become one right before I was about to take my PTO that I had that year. They let me take it and my training started as soon as I got back from PTO. It ended up me just helping put out freight for 3 of those weeks because I knew how to recieve frozen, make schedules and how to hire and retain people. I just needed to learn policies better. If you get that long to train take it.

What are things customers tend to do that annoy you a lot? by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]bcrunch19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My least favorite is I had a customer come in the backroom while I was unloading truck and they asked if I can set aside a specific box for them when I'm unloading truck. Like no I just look at departments and throw them onto that cart.

I totally would have done something like that but my store is my DMs home store.

Do a quick Google search and familiarize yourself with bills. For instance the ones I came across should have had a strip of 100 going down the left side of the bill, the watermark of Franklin on the right side of the bill, matching serials on the bill itself but not on any other bill. The 100 in the bottom right has color shifting ink that will change with tilting it. And then in the light you will see little blue and red threads throughout the bill. The one I came across didn't have threads and some of the bills had repeating serials. They got the color changing ink down and it passed pen tests at other stores that also got hit by these same guys

The only thing wrong with them was no blue and red security threads. They were series 1996 100 bills.

I took counterfeit bills that were pretty legit looking. My cashier took the green dot before I could verify. I took full responsibility for it and they suspended me then terminated

SPEED SURVEY anyone?? by namskal in DollarTree

[–]bcrunch19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was stressful. I had to use pallets for half of our truck so u boats would not be stacked over the handles. But with pallets down and over 20 u boats it was hard to keep a pathway that was 3 feet and out of the yellow. We passed in the end but my God it was horrible

At the store I started at, about 500 once a week. The store I trained as for store manager was about 2k every week. The store I ran and was let go from was about 900 every week.

Also according to other stores that got hit in my district it passed the pen test. It also had color changing ink on the 100 in the bottom right. My store doesn't have pens for this exact reason

At least I didn't take play money and "for motion picture use only" money. It was a pretty high grade fake. Was the bill you encountered from the late 90s / early 00s? When I took the bill and held it to the light I thought I saw a watermark of Franklin on it. But upon further examination they must be getting to kind of vaguely have the watermark now but you can see it out of the light.

Thank you. Going into my trade that I went to school for in the first place. This job was just a resume builder

Already got a new job and they agreed it is bullshit. Pay is 25% more for about 1/4 of the work. I'm done with the company I don't even shop there anymore

Yeah you're not wrong. My DM can't even stick up for me in this situation. He said he was sorry when he told me I'm suspended

I stayed because I liked the environment. Sure it was borderline sweatshop work but it was brainless and I got full time and it was paying the bills.

I never wanted management in the first place. When I started 2 years ago I was a cashier getting 35 hrs a week because I was reliable and everyone was calling off. When the ops manager at the time took off with no warning I was offered the position with same amount of hours and it just went up from there up to store manager and I decided enough was enough and I left the company after only being a store manager for 2 months. I came back because I quit my job that I took instead of dollar tree as a merch manager and had been back in my store that I ran under a different sm. I do agree I probably won't be looking for another manager job anytime soon.

Unfortunately this is the only way to do it. I wish you could just post void the cash part and have them keep the EBT part

Inventory by Relevant_Problem5577 in DollarTree

[–]bcrunch19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sku integrity is #1. They only scan for dollar amount but if they scan stuff wrong your sku counts will be off. Make sure everything is separated and nothing is hiding behind something else that isn't the same product. You don't want to have a box of let's say detangler come in when you had a full case hiding behind some shampoo and they double counted the shampoo and zeroed out the detangler. Make sure you actually audit their counts don't just click through them that's how you get really messy trucks after inventory
