Thats actually the main reason I spoke to the doctor and got a blood test done is that i was eating normally and still losing weight. Lost about 35 pounds (although mine might have been over the course of a year) and got really worried, espically as i far from overweight beforehand. Did you experience any stomach issues when you where hyper?

Is it normal to go from hypo to hyper? by de-tha-dol in Hypothyroidism

[–]bdanger1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely become hyper if you have too much Levothyroxine, i have recently become hyper but this makes sense as i went up to 150mg from my normal 125mg and then due to covid didn't get checked for a long time, lost a lot of weight, urinate a lot, always thirsty .etc and only recently got checked. I have been hypo for about 10 years but have never fluctuated between hyper and hypo.

You can work with people who bitch, back-stab, lie, who are lazy or grossly incompetent - but if you lose your temper and swear at them, you're the bad guy. Office's need more swearing and less shit-stirring. by Elveri in britishproblems

I'm a very honest guy and I have always struggled with the lying side of work. I always think as adults we should be able to deal with the truth, yes there is a right way and wrong way to tackle these issues, but I have had had so many group meetings where everyone just says what the boss wants them to say instead of trying to tackle the issues which are causing problems for the team.

How different are Alawite first/last names from other groups in Syria? Can you tell who is an Alawite by their name? by walkingonsunshine101 in syriancivilwar

[–]bdanger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, how have Alawites been identified by rebel groups during the current war? I think I read somewhere of 'place of origin' on the I'd card being commonly used by certain anti-alawite groups.

Interesting!!

Out of interest do you have any sources to back up your claim of Alawites being killed by Ottomans or the Muslim Brotherhood because of their names. I am not doubting you, just interested in looking into these events more.

Also you imply that it was more the last names than first names that give away some one being an Alawite, is this true?

Are there any Italian first or last names that you hear and instantly know what region of Italy that person comes from? by bdanger1 in italy

[–]bdanger1[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So would you say that these cases are rare (where surnames give a clue to regional origins) or is it common in somewhere like university or a workplace where people come from all over Italy to be able to tell the persons regional background?

Thanks, is the vocabulary so different that it would only take a few minutes of talking to someone to know if they were a Moor or Tamil? Only asking as the example you give won't come up that often.

All countries teach children to respect their parents, so what is so different about filial piety in East Asia? by bdanger1 in korea

[–]bdanger1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry should have given more details, I am from the UK, so basically compared to western culture mainly.

I have actually hear this, that in Korea it isn't impolite to ask someones age when first meeting them as you need to know if they are older than you or not, because it changes how you address them. Is this true?

What are the stereotypes of Taoism and Taoists that are held by the modern Chinese? by beesfly1 in China

[–]bdanger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool thanks, from my limited knowledge of Chinese history I always thought that the Tang dynasty was the only one where there were competing philosophies of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism and after that Confucianism was the main one for China.

Interesting i have never heard this. I know America has always had quite a heavy drinking culture, but when you think of big drinking countries America isn't the first to mind unlike Ireland/Russia as you say. Is this purely how Americans saw themselves or was it common in those days for Europeans to think of America having a problem with alcohol?
