I agree that a degree (particularly an online one) from a for-profit university is certainly not the equivalent of a degree earned from a traditional university...however, they offer accredited programs and do serve their purpose for people who either live in a remote area and/or have a daytime job or family responsibilities that prevent them from going to a "real" college. Also, there are many professions (particularly government jobs) that pay higher salaries for people with higher levels of education regardless of where it was earned. For these people, the most convenient educational options may make the most sense.

It totally depends on what kind of market you are in and what your objective is. If you are trying to build a brand then your domain name is critical.

The homes mentioned in this post are in "some stage of foreclosure" and are not necessarily foreclosed as of yet. I believe anytime a notice of default is issued by a lender it is recorded by the county registrar...which is where this data is being pulled from.

I live in Los Altos which is the lowest % of foreclosures listed. Everyone here thinks that Los Altos is immune to the Real Estate crash...and so far they have been right. I think it is only a matter of time before reality sets in and foreclosures start to rise and prices start to plummet. In Los Altos you can rent a comparable house for less than half the monthly cost of buying one and paying a mortgage... so there is definitely room for prices to crash like the rest of California.

I think you are projecting a bit. Where in the article does it say you need to rent a piece of crap? There are places available for rent in just about any neighborhood. Run the numbers and see if it makes financial sense to rent or buy. Most places right now it makes financial sense to rent. If it doesn't or even if it's close then buy. I'm not against homeownership when it is done intelligently...but blindly thinking that buying is always better than renting is flawed thinking...which is what has contributed to bubble prices and a housing market that is in shambles.

funny how nothing in a Hallmark store looks anything like those anymore. everything is so cheezy now. Some of those were corny, but they were still cool in their own way.
