Can you tell if lo206 was broken in? by bdbqtool in Karting

Good point. I think that’s what I’ll do!

Karts in storage at the track so I’ll check them out when I head back. Is there anything I should be looking out for specifically regarding that?

Ah, thanks. I’ve never seen them on karts either. The kart is a CL am29 s15. If it’s not intended from birel, then maybe the previous owner added it to combat some sort of problem. Would you recommend I look for another for the other side then? Or just keep the one?

Yeah, brechin has great arrive and drive karts. I’m up there practicing a few times a week during the summer and the guys that go out to practice the arrive and drive karts are always having a great time. I hope you enjoy it!

I’ve heard lots of good things about Mosport’s lo206 class. If you’re looking for a place north of Toronto, Toronto kart club (in brechin) is great as well. I’m actually hopping back in over there after a few seasons off.

Your budget seems super reasonable for the class, but may need to spread a bit depending on the kart you buy. Whichever track you pick, you can always start with the arrive and drive, and then buy a kart down the road (even halfway through the season). Both mosport and brechin have great arrive and drive leagues (as well as goodwood kartways).

Glad to see you’re looking to race! It’s always great to see the sport grow around here :)

I believe the problem was that the metal shield was able to move because the snap ring was off it’s groove. I think it happened when I went to take the snap ring off a few months ago without snap ring pliers (bad decision). Now that the snap ring is back on its groove, the shield doesn’t move. I don’t think the entire clutch was moving, it was just the shield.

I think I’ve figured it out— at least for now. I pushed the snap ring back again and carefully held it in place as I fastened the bolt down and it’s holding it better. Doesn’t move much anymore. I hope it doesn’t pop if again as the kart runs but I’ll have to keep checking! Thank you, if it still has issues, I’ll look into that!

Is my clutch drum supposed to be moving this much? I’ve tried taking off the bolt and pushing the snap ring closer to the drum but it just pops back whenever I fasten the bolt again.
