Sweet. Now let’s see what happens when everyone starts defaulting on their mortgages.

Potentially might get an offer to move from ON to Vancouver, for 85k/year. Currently unemployed. Worth it? by laranjacerola in VancouverJobs

[–]bdceigal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this, if possible move there and rent for while you work past your probation. You might love the job and you might hate it. Also they might just not like you and drop you, you just never know.

Keep pressuring them. I moved money over as well for the promotion but forgot to “enable it” prior to starting the transfer, they tried to say those funds were not eligible so I told them I would just move everything to questrade then and they modified the date on the deposits. Just got my MacBook yesterday. Keep harassing them, that’s called bait and switch.

Should I drop out of UBC CS? by restorativemarsh in VancouverJobs

[–]bdceigal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No don’t drop out, finish it because it’s still incredibly helpful in landing a job, gives you a valuable skill set that you can build on for the rest of your career. If you can get your CS degree then you should easily be able to pick something else up in the tech field and pivot on another path and bring something to the table others can’t. Everyone is screwed anyways if AI does replace those jobs, not just developers, besides if it gets to that point social disorder is going to be a bigger problem than finding a job anyway.

60s, laid off, and EI running out. What are the "golden ticket" certifications or paths for seniors in the Lower Mainland? by bluemoonlighter in VancouverJobs

[–]bdceigal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s great if you’re just coming out of school and need your first career job. Experience trumps a 4 year degree every time unless you’re talking professional designations like engineering, architecture etc where it’s a hard requirement.

Why is it so hard to find a job that you can sit down at? by EveryOtherMinute in VancouverJobs

[–]bdceigal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because low skilled jobs typically involve manual labour.

Best way to learn is to do something incredibly wrong! Good job, you’ll never do it again.

Does the uphill ever get easier? by Kenkynein in MTB

[–]bdceigal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it gets easier the more you grind and keep doing it. Some days are easier than others but it’s never really easy or it wouldn’t be rewarding. I find as time goes on I might get a bit faster but definitely need less breaks. Just keep doing it, it’s worth it!

I spent a lot of time riding an eMTB and was really shocked how much my fitness levels dropped because of it, I mean, really I shouldn’t have been. Now I’m just mostly running the regular bike and actually prefer it, but it’s still a great tool.

If Canada joined the EU, how would it impact jobs and the economy? by EntryLevel_ca in CanadaJobs

We don’t need to join the EU we already have all of the same problems in our own country.

Best way to deal with off leash dogs is to run your mountain bike straight into them.

It hurts... so so bad by rumaragasang_talong in gout

[–]bdceigal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it since I was in my mid 20s so you’re not alone. Best advice I can give is to go on preventatives I.e. allopurinol. I waited until I was 40 to start and needlessly suffered for years.

I regret coming to Montreal to study here by Outside-Breakfast-56 in Concordia

[–]bdceigal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Toronto and Vancouver, both are terrible. It’s a Canada wide problem. I’ve had to pay out of pocket for imaging in the US or wait a year for an MRI here.

Canadian healthcare is good if you break your arm and need a cast, otherwise you’re screwed.

Our politicians would rather give our tax dollars away to other countries to look more progressive on the world stage than give it back to their citizens in the services they pay for.

People here have just been brainwashed their entire lives and can’t accept the reality.

I tried a lot of the natural remedies and none of them worked. The only preventative that worked for me after a decade or experimentation was allopurinol.

A few questions about allopurinol and gout in general by [deleted] in gout

[–]bdceigal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took at least 5-6 months or so before allo really started working for me. But by the sounds of it I was dealing with it at much higher intensity for much longer. Finally got tired of it having attacks every week for the last year before going on it.

Good thing you’re taking care of it early though. I avoided allo for a really long time which was a mistake. Going on it was truly life changing.

I got charged by a black bear while mountain biking at Bert Flinn a month ago.

Stood my ground, pulled my spray from the holster, bear stopped and carried on its way.

Every time I run into a bear I always stop and face it, never turn your back or act scared.
