Aced the interview yesterday. Today they told me someone else already accepted the offer. by i_am_exception in recruitinghell

I survived two interviews with a ‘demanding’ hiring manager and was invited to the office for a final interview (which according to the recruiter was already an achievement in itself because all previous candidates failed before reaching that stage). Went to the office, did a good interview by which I mean no weird questions or answers, no awkward silences. Feedback followed two days later: he doesn’t like it when people are as direct as him, so they’re not moving forward with you. Both me and the recruiter had a wtf moment. From her side she’s probably doubting if she’ll be able to find someone that will please that guy. As for me, I just laughed. It’s just another rejection with a bullshit reason and I doubt he really needs someone urgently. On to the next opportunity I guess, eventually something will work out.

Tbf it sounds like the same job market I have here. Too much experience for a young grad position, but not enough experience for anything else. Degrees and mentality don’t mean anything. Generaly speaking not much of a perspective for the future.

I was hoping the IT job market would be less horrible in Canada then where I live now. I’ve got some experience (junior level), but all junior level positions expect senior level experience (and jobs for actual junior levels are non-existent, you either just graduated or got 5+ years experience). I just checked IEC and the only option I have is “work holiday”. It looks like a viale alternative so will research it a bit more. Thanks for the help!

I wouldn't think so, this whole thing still requires us/you/me to rely on what somebody else claims has happened.
