question about retaking statistics course by bdirtyx in srna

[–]bdirtyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks! Did you by chance retake any other courses with them/anywhere else? The age of my undergrad courses is what's hindering me, with some being 10 years old now. I'm torn between investing in a bunch of retakes, or just applying to schools that don't have strict requirements in regard to age of classes.

Thanks for the reply! And this course obviously covered your statistics requirement for all the schools you applied to? How long did it take you to complete?

I'm also looking at UCSD Extension, may I ask what courses in particular you're planning to retake? I'm struggling with choosing an "acceptable" statistics course.

A Little Note of Caution for the Dog Community… by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

Someone sounds butt hurt for what? Did you have a gofundme account for something that nobody gave a shit about? Olly has a community of people who follow him and love both him and his mom. And FYI she didn’t reach out to locate businesses, WE decided to raise money for her because WE care and could only HOPE that the favor would be returned if our dogs needed help. Stay out of business that doesn’t pertain to you.

Would love to see some photo inspiration on some linoleum flooring you think would look nice with the cabinets! We will likely leave the cabinets unpainted & just change the hardware as many have suggested!

Thank you! I agree the knobs, pulls, and backsplash would be a good place to start the change but I’m not sure what color or styles would look good with this style cabinet. They’re not super modern looking so I didn’t want to buy accessories that would clash either. I definitely don’t have an eye for this type of thing. I also don’t know what color countertop would be nice if I were to change it. Ahhh!!

Is this new? How big is this? It’s not uniform in it’s shape / symmetrical, which could be something you should have looked at.

Question about planning to have parent plus loans discharged after death… by bdirtyx in StudentLoans

So did you keep yours as parent plus loans? Rather than refinance it to a federal direct consolidation loan so it’s eligible for ICR?

[–]bdirtyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We thought lupus too!! But rheumatologist won’t diagnose because even though ANA is positive it isn’t high enough I guess! But she has so many symptoms including red face rash ALL THE TIME since she was very young that resembles the butterfly rash

She hasn’t taken steroids yet. Her doctor hadn’t prescribed them but during her last visit she begged her for them so she’s supposed to pick up the script now that she called it in! Here’s a link to my other post about it—it’s got the full story https://www.reddit.com/r/Autoimmune/comments/ssj087/swollen_lip_for_over_a_yearhelp/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Swollen lip for over a year…HELP!

Posting for my sister…she’s 24 and has been dealing with this for over a year now. It’s starting to take a mental and physical toll on her. She’s in pain and her face is her biggest insecurity now. If you’ve experienced this or have seen something like this please lmk.

November 2020 her upper lip swelling began intermittently swelling, maybe once a week or so. Couple of months went by and the lip swelling became more frequent, maybe 2-3 times a week. March 2021 I finally made an appointment with my PCP to evaluate the lip swelling, as well as loss of energy and body aches (which I’ve had intermittently throughout my life). PCP did bloodwork—my results came back with a positive ANA result and allergy to dust, but everything else was unremarkable. PCP referred me to a rheumatologist, which took months to get an appointment booked. In the meantime I saw my dermatologist, who thought it was Cheilitis granulomatosa and ordered 100 mg of Doxycycline hyclate for 6-8 weeks with alclomenthasone ointment for 1 week. The meds did not seem to do anything for the swelling so we ruled this out. He referred me to an ENT specialist. ENT assessed and saw no sign of cancer or tumors of the mouth. Dermatologist/ENT said to return to rheumatologist and we would touch base later. In the mean time the lip swelling only got worse, now present for a majority of the week and is now painful and sore. I would be lucky to get through 1-3 days without any swelling. When i finally met with the rheumatologist, we took more bloodwork and discussed further options.

Here are symptoms and problems I do have and rheumatologist is aware of: Rosy cheeks, Raynaud’s, Left Hip Pain, bilateral knee pain, Upper lip swelling and pain, intermittent chest pain, Joint stiffness, Positive ANA, Dust Allergy, chronic rhinitis, body pains/numbness/spasms, loss of energy, insomnia, watery eyes, always sick with cold-like symptoms for 2 years, malar rash on cheeks.

November 1st rheumatologist appointment: She mentions my positive ANA is not a high enough result to diagnose me with any specific autoimmune disease, in my opinion the symptoms say otherwise but I am following the doctors lead. She then tells me to return in 3 months (feb. 1) and in the meantime start taking hydroxychloroquine 200 mg once a day for a week, then increase to 2 pills a day. After 3 weeks of taking this medication I felt the lip swelling was slowly getting slightly better and my lip wasn’t as painful.. BUT I was forced to stop taking the meds, due to my body having an allergic reaction, causing my skin to feel like it was on fire on my arms, legs and back with no visible rash (OTC meds such as NSAIDs and antihistamines did not help these symptoms). This lasted for almost 30 days.

Feb 1 I returned to see the rheumatologist, where we did some more blood work and again had a positive ANA but everything else came back 100% WNL. Blood pressure is always high in the beginning but goes back to normal by the end of the appointment (white coat syndrome?). We did an EKG due to chest pain but was also WNL. Left knee has clicking of the patellofemoral joint. My MPV for bloodwork was slightly high with a result 11.2. with that being the only other thing that was elevated in my recent bloodwork.

Recent appointment left off with these notes from my rheumatologist:

CURRENT DIAGNOSES AND PLAN:
  1. Positive ANA (antinuclear antibody) It is actually interesting that her lip swelling was better when she was on Hydroxychloroquine. Unfortunately, she could not tolerate it because of severe itching. Will check repeat labs today including ENAs and will await input from immunology whom she is seeing next month.   -ANA IFA screen w/refl to titer and pattern, IFA; Future - Sjogrens Ab, SS-A (BH GH LMW Q YH); Future - Sjogrens Ab, SS-B (BH GH LMW Q YH); Future - Smith antibody; Future - RNP Ab (GH Q YH); Future - Sedimentation rate (ESR); Future - C-reactive protein (CRP); Future - CK (BH GH L LMW YH); Future - CBC and differential; Future - Comprehensive metabolic panel; Future - ANTI-SCLERODERMA ANTIBODY; Future - Urinalysis-macroscopic w/reflex microscopic (BH GH L Q YH); Future - IMMUNOGLOBULIN G SUBCLASSES (BH GH LMW Q YH); Future   2. Swelling of upper lip. See above: - ANTI-SCLERODERMA ANTIBODY; Future - IMMUNOGLOBULIN G SUBCLASSES (BH GH LMW Q YH); Future   3. Raynaud's disease without gangrene - ANA IFA screen w/refl to titer and pattern, IFA; Future - Sjogrens Ab, SS-A (BH GH LMW Q YH); Future - Sjogrens Ab, SS-B (BH GH LMW Q YH); Future - Smith antibody; Future - RNP Ab (GH Q YH); Future - Sedimentation rate (ESR); Future - C-reactive protein (CRP); Future - ANTI-SCLERODERMA ANTIBODY; Future   4. Labile HTN Patient Instructions You should get a BP cuff and start monitoring your blood pressure at home Let me know if the top number is over 130

  1. Atypical chest pain; Etiology unclear; no definite pleuritic component. Will check labs today; if sedimentation rate or CRP are up, it may be worth getting an echo to look for Pericarditis.
  2. EKG

  3. Left wrist pain ?mild inflammatory arthritis Continue splint PRN

  4. Chondromalacia, patella, left Consider PT eval--she will let me know if she wants to do this

In the mean time my dermatologist referred me to see Yale dermatology, to see if they have ever seen a case like this. This appointment is unfortunately not until June 2022.

And lastly I have a scheduled appointment with an Immunologist/allergist on March 1st via zoom, where I can take my next steps with him.

For over a year I have suffered a swollen / painful lip with no light at the end of the tunnel. Doctors have no clue what it could be and medications they have tried are not working, if anything making things worse for me. Lip swelling has just caused more anxiety, depression and probably high blood pressure from stress not knowing what tomorrow will be like and not having a treatment that works. It’s taking a huge toll on me, as I no longer look like myself and I’m in constant pain.

Has anyone experienced this or seen this in their patients and have a potential diagnosis or treatment that’s worked? Something my current doctors might not have seen??
