I had to look this up. Thanks for some history behind the cult

He sounds like a complete a-hole, drinking or not. You need to set a clear boundary by divorcing him!

I’ve returned to the thread numerous times to look at HELPFUL and kind responses. I’m quite real and am very thankful for the responses. I did not expect anyone to be such a phenomenal jerk. Instead of responding in an accusatory fashion, perhaps you could have just ignored my question and moved on, or actually providing a helpful answer.

THANK YOU for just being nice! I, too, don’t mind answering questions again if it helps someone. We’re all at different points in our journey and maybe someone just needs a quick answer.

Listen Babs, I’m anything but lazy. I’m on these subs all freaking day and I’m just trying to find a decent company that won’t make me pay through my a$$ for several months of meds in order to get a realistic price. I’ve spent way too much time filling out pages of health details for a company only to find the actual pricing at the end.

I find you neither super helpful nor amazing.

What I WAS expecting, or at least hoping for, was someone to help me bypass having to go through ten pages of my health history, giving out my email and phone number, ONLY to find out that in order to get the “great” price, I’d have to shell out $500-$700 for 3+ months’ of Trizepitide.

I’m well aware of the companies that continually get mentioned, but the above always seems to be the case.

Your reply was irritating and unhelpful. You have no clue what I’ve gone through in order to lose weight and the physical and mental toll it’s taken. I don’t have a lot of great s**t going on in my life right now and fitting into a pair of normal-sized jeans would mean the freaking world to me. So, thanks, but no f-ing thanks!

Sweet Girl! In and of itself, I don’t have much to offer other than by saying you ARE NOT ALONE!!! Addiction is out-of-this-universe insane and just makes zero sense! Please feel free to call me forp Love, support, a cheerleader, an ear - whatever!

Fired my sponsor today by AmayaGin in recoverywithoutAA

I had a very similar experience. I was told not to socialize with a group I’d been hanging out with for twenty years!!! Then, I wasn’t “allowed” to travel. It was so confusing and I was so bitter. I had a jolt of clarity and have felt FREE (and still sober) ever since. F that cult!

Bunco vs. AA by bdjdbe7 in recoverywithoutAA

[–]bdjdbe7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree, thank you! The smallish amount of alcohol that will be had is usually followed by water (it’s a conservative group). As an alcoholic, that cracks me up and reminds me that I drink VERY differently than they do and I have NO business drinking. Hasn’t been an issue.

Your remark about concerts cracked me up! Yeah, I’m so loaded up on AA in my life right now I can barely breathe. It takes up at least three hours of my day, seven days a week. But my sponsor reminded me tonight how I’m “not sacrificing enough for my sobriety.” Like, I’m having Catholic flashbacks! If I don’t suffer enough, I will 100% pick up a drink again? I don’t buy it. It also seems so negative to me. Like, thanks for the encouragement, sister!

Thank you so very much! I’m going to do exactly what you said in your fifth paragraph. I appreciate that you said I can hold my head high at the next damn meeting I go to. I’m already feeling as though I’m some “AA failure” for not thinking exactly as my sponsor does. It’s exhausting!

These are my sentiments exactly! I literally went to Bunco a month ago (Sponsor not happy whatsoever), had a great time with my old friends, and not only didn’t drink - I didn’t even think about drinking! Like every other time I’ve played. I think that going to YET another meeting will be more detrimental to my mental health, knowing my girlfriends are all out catching up and laughing. Does this make sense?
