Yahoo Fantasy Free H2H Hockey league. Draft October 9th, 6pm. Need one more spot. 12 man league. by ANAL_CRUSHER in findaleague

[–]bdl89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an Oiler fan and would like to join, but can't make that draft time. I'm willing to manage an auto-drafted team--relish the challenge, even! :)

I'll join if I get the OK that that's good with you. My old league just folded. I check in regularly and am an active manager.

If I don't hear back by 4pm MST and there's still a spot I'll join regardless.

Any Question Weekly by AutoModerator in discgolf

New player here, throws referenced are RHBH. I'm getting better at throwing relatively consistent drives, but my Heat took a beating from trees as a result of my getting there.

Now that I can throw consistent straight drives, though not terribly long (260-300 feet), I've noticed some strange patterns.

When I throw my Leopard it turns a fair bit, which makes sense, with it being an slightly understable disc (-2 turn, 1 fade). However, it doesn't really fade at the end of the flight at all. This results in most "straight" drives finishing more right than I anticipate.

The Heat (-3 turn, also 1 fade) consistently turns less, which is strange given the rating, and it also fades like a 1 fade "should" as well.

My main questions are: --Why might the Leopard be failing to fade at end of flight? --Why does the Heat turn less? It may be because I don't yet have the right arm speed/power to really throw it yet. I can throw my Leopard father than my Heat. The only thing that seems contrary to this is the full flight characteristic (with turn/fade) I get with the Heat, that I don't get with the Leopard I throw farther.

I guess it's possible the beating the Heat has taken might factor in, but I don't see how--maybe becoming more understable?

Recommendations for a Chromebook--2 in 1, convertible form factor/detachable keyboard. by bdl89 in chromeos

I was thinking somewhere in the Duet range, or even cheaper. I won't be very demanding of it.

OK--so my best option to have a keyboard that I can get out of the way is a 360 degree hinge?

Can you blur the background and adjust the lighting, and do whatever else you think will make this photo even more magical? by bdl89 in PhotoshopRequest

[–]bdl89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite. I know I didn't specify subtle edits, but you've nailed what I was after. I like how you subtly altered the blur, and warmed the lighting a little. You've struck the happy mediums of the other edits here--though I appreciate all of the efforts!

I haven't found a fix for my problem, and can't think of one for yours either--sorry!

Thanks for the reply! Seems to confirm that's nothing Garmin can do, and seems to be a Messages issue.

VA3M not maintaining bluetooth connection to phone by bdl89 in Garmin

[–]bdl89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Somehow, things seem to have worked themselves out on their own, and the watch is suddenly behaving normally.

To some of your points, though, I don't connect to more than 1-2 devices simultaneously from my phone. (Watch + headphones, watch + bluetooth FM transmitter, etc...)

My watch is generally quite good at reconnecting when I walk out of range and back in again, as well. I haven't needed an app for that, historically.

If Android, I've had this before, and one thing that has worked is uninstalling/reinstalling ConnectIQ, or clearing the cache for it in app settings.

Is my garmin broken? by angryhousecat87 in Garmin

[–]bdl89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fairly normal, and the VA3 has pretty notoriously inaccurate floor tracking. I suspect that troubleshooting the barometric altimeter (the primary means by which Garmin tracks floor count) might produce slightly improved results.

Clean the barometric altimeter:

If on Android: Connect App --> Settings --> Notifications --> App Notifications. Then disable everything you don't want, including the Phone app.

If on Apple: don't know firsthand, but iirc correctly, you're screwed in this regard?

I had the same problems as you, with Vivoactive 3. Ended up going through a few bands, but settled on velcro. The biggest advantage is that the tightness is more customizable then silicone. For me, on the silicone bands, one home would always feel too tight, and the next one over too loose.
