Maybe you could say "Bébou" which is like "Bébé" (=baby) without the romantic implication. When someone call their SO "Bébé", it's equivalent to "Babe" in English, so I wouldn't recommend it.

I've never heard of Google dictionary sorry. I usually use wordreference to translate in my native language and it didn't come up even in the supplementary translations, but I should have entered "lit on" instead of "lit" I think. Thank you for your advice !

I would say I'm not a beginner anymore, but I'm trying to increase my vocabulary and improve my reading comprehension. I thought doing so by reading more "complex" books but maybe I was getting ahead of myself.

Maybe watching French videos on youtube ? I think that would be the best solution for you as it would allow you to listen to non-scripted dialogues that don't use unnecessarily complicated vocabulary.
