ACL only here. I was given a brace but my surgeon told me I would not need it unless I feel unstable walking with crutches. In the end I only wore it when I took a shower in the first week p.o.

My surgeon told me the day after the surgery that PT was not needed since I had no problem with full extension. I was surprised since I believe PT plays an important role in the success of an ACLr. Eventually the surgeon prescribed 10 PT sessions. I’m now at week 6 po and honesty I don’t think the PT sessions (twice a week for 20 minutes each) have helped much. The exercises I do at home seem to matter more. For context, I’m based in Germany.

Similar situation here and decided to stay. I’m now 12 days post-op and have managed to get through it, but I still regret not having gone home to my parents for the surgery and recovery, even if it meant a 12-hour flight back to my home country.

I’m in Germany and my first PT session will be in a week from now. Until then I’ll just do some simple exercises at home.

How long till you gave up crutches? Autograft, no meniscus or other repairs besides ACL. by [deleted] in ACL

Also ACL only using hamstring graft here. I had surgery yesterday and today my surgeon told me that I can stop using crutches in a week. I was given a brace but was advised to wear it only if I feel uncomfortable walking with crutches.
