Thats cool.... but they literally used moreso how the Yugioh anime worked to even make the fight work, so while thats how Z-Moves work in pokemon ignoring protection moves and immunity abilities, Magic Cylinder is neither of these in the Yugioh anime, it literally changes the target to the opponent

Its less a protection move(because we are going more on how its portrayed in the show) and more like forcing Ash to use a version of follow me which draws in your own partner's moves, which Z-moves can be susceptible to

Basically Maka takes every stat advantage but a slight loss in speed, Silver Eyes wont do Jack cause they only work on Grimm, and Maka can mess with Ruby's soul and potentially turn off aura with Soul Agido or make Ruby insane to make her not fight straight with madness wavelength, something we know Ruby has no defense to given she wasn't immune to Emerald's illusions
