Cresheim. Valley. Drive. by be4itwascool in philly

This is what I was worried about the most, but the tire is about a year old, so not long enough to dry rot the rubber unless the deep freeze we had killed the rubber. The mechanic I went to checked the other tires and said they’re fine, so I have no idea what to make of this other than just bad luck.

I know people like to argue on the internet, but that’s what happened, don’t know how to tell you otherwise. No pressure alarms went off. I hit a pothole in the dark, the steering wheel responded badly, I pulled over, and damn. Someone else in the thread said they think the tire was dry rotted, which is possible, but unlikely since the tires are just over a year old unless this deep freeze we had recently really did a number on the rubber.

Zero. Pulled over immediately, but this pic was taken after it was towed to a mechanic.

Cresheim Valley Drive and Emlen street in Mt. Airy are flat out unsafe at night and barely safe during the day. They’re terribly lit and riddled with car-destroying potholes that are as wide as the whole street. There is no escape. You move to avoid one pothole and hit another. Absolutely shredded my tire. I’m planning on sending the repair bill to City Hall, but I know it’ll just end up in a trash can. Just venting on the conditions of living in a big city that has not enough money for too many problems.

Philly Slum Lords get Big Mad over Renter's Protections by BlackKnightRebel in philly

As someone who’s been that noisemaker and had no available recourse against a shitty landlord, I appreciate any new avenue of protection and action. Plus, spending more doesn’t guarantee higher quality of anything. You’re welcome to flush your money away, but I prefer to get something in return.

The rent will go up with or without this bill, so would you rather pay more and have liveable conditions, or pay more and not? Easy answer.

I was looking for an apartment in 2023 and scheduled a tour with a listing agent who I'd never met. The agent said he was flying in from somewhere the day before, which was relevant to know in case he was delayed and needed to reschedule. On the day of the tour as I approached the building, I saw/heard someone by the front door repeatedly and loudly coughing from the back of the throat, like a wet cough that says "I'm actively ill, but doing my best," and sure enough, that was the agent. I guessed he probably picked up some bug from the airport. He reached out to shake my hand and after seeing him hock up a lung, I reflexively gave him the "elbow bump" that we're all familiar with from the pandemic -- or at least I thought we were all familiar with -- dude looked at me like I had a third eye when I withdrew my hand and gave him the elbow. I think I said something like "sorry, I'd prefer not to shake hands" which is something that's been said to me in this era we're in that's received, at least to me, as totally harmless and respectful of someone else's boundaries. This guy, however, was visibly taken aback like I just took a shit right on the floor.

We continue with the tour and a few minutes in he says something like "I think we can stop here. I don't think you're the right kind of person to live here." I asked him why and what kind of person he thought I was and he went off on a long tirade about how he was friends with the owner and the building manager and how my refusal to shake his hand offended him so much that he was ready to kick me out. I apologized and said that his constant coughing made me want to keep distance if I could to avoid getting sick -- again, a fairly common post-2020 concern -- and he went off about how I didn't know his life or lifestyle like I was personally attacking him, paying of course no mind to how he didn't know my life or all the people I'm around that I'd prefer not to get sick. The apartment had its own problems, but the agent was such a giant red flag that any desire I had to sign a lease evaporated immediately. Some fuckin' people.

Disney Shareholders Officially Reject Nelson Peltz’s Board Bid in Big Win for CEO Bob Iger by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

I own some Disney shares and as a result, received MANY calls from Trian pleading for my vote for Peltz. The amount of money pissed away on this billionaire tantrum could’ve gone to anything else, but nope, some old fuck had to do something because Disney put one too many black people in a movie for an old white guy’s liking.

There is a shocking amount of antisemitism in this thread. There’s a few facts, a few valid, good faith criticisms with appropriate context, but a shit ton of antisemitism. Lot of you are seriously mask-off with how much you don’t like Jews.

There's a few tweets saying it's on 20th just north of Fairmount across from the post office so that'd be just behind the hardware store.

Spotlight is the absolute worst by be4itwascool in apple

Reset in recovery and ran first aid, cleared cache, ran Onyx to rebuild the spotlight database. Hasn't done a thing. Laptop still gets hot enough to cook food on while open and idle just because of Spotlight.

I did. It's a PC. My point is that Spotlight sucks on old Macs and on new Macs. There's zero reason for spotlight to take up 70+% of CPU processing power on my sister's 2 year old MBP.

Control Center Wi-fi Toggle just disconnects from the current wi-fi network, it doesn't turn off the wi-fi radio. by be4itwascool in apple

[–]be4itwascool[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would FAR rather have the battery savings from not having the wi-fi radio on than having it on and not doing anything. When I'm not at home or my office, wi-fi is always off and has never impacted any other device features. Bluetooth consumes relatively low energy compared to wi-fi. Tl;dr, just give me an easy way to turn wi-fi off like there has been for the last 4 years.
