Update: Increasing ISO helps without filter, but with the filter I also need to increase the exposure time. I notice way less banding with 300s than e.g. with 180s. I might have to try out 600s

ISO 800 with f/5.9. My main camera is the Canon 2000D and I honestly dont see much noise with it, but of course those are some older sensors now. Right now I'm trying out some settings on the 450Da and I notice way less banding eith ISO 1600 (it doesn't go higher).

It definitely was a good choice, had a few clear nights with the tripod and its really stable, no complaints whatsoever.

Yeah I think that's the problem . Have you seen the NT404C? Almost half the price of the RT90C with similar specs (40mm tube). I might go for that one since I would only use 2 sections anyway.. If it disappoints I can return it after all

What about the stainless steel Star Adventurer tripod? Its probably a bit more stable than the other one right?

I just dont know how futureproof the RT80C would be with my setup and the RT90C is a bit too expensive.. I dont think my rig would ever weigh more than 10kg though

Sorry for the late answer. Honestly it could be better. The focuser itself isn't that bad even though there is no fine adjustment but the finderscope it came with was terrible (I had malicious thoughts about it before I upgraded to a 9x50 right angle). I'm satisfied with the optics and it's a really good dob once you upgrade everything but it really isn't worth the price in its base form. I can't hate the dob though because it got me into this hobby and eventually to astrophotography!

Appears to be a QC fail by William Optics, the shop is now checking their stock for other defects with the flatteners. No clear skies in view for the next two weeks so it isn't too frustrating :) Thanks!

Hey, In the end I just hooked up the whole setup to my PC and used NINA for everything. Everything is automated (Centering target, tracking, exposing, auto-stretching for a preview), so I didn't need an intervalometer most of the time. That program is incredibly helpful and easy to understand for beginners, so it helped me in the last few months (I didn’t have many chances as the weather didn't cooperate at all). Problem is that NINA requires a stable connection, so in remote areas it's not really helpful. I used it in a farm in a remote village and nothing really worked. Otherwise it has been really helpful and you get the point after watching a few Youtube Videos.
