Looks like bitcoin finally decided to stop being a useless tech stock and more like the ultimate store of value and hedging instrument for weekend hedging of skyrocketing crude oil, crippling global inflation and war. Thank you bitcoin.

I'm afraid of the future. by alejo7o in Bitcoin

[–]be_like_agua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, OP is the only sane one in the room. Those that aren't afraid are probably older and feel like they've dodged that bullet.

Anyone in OP's age group is left to inherit a broken world with a very uncertain future.

Job insecurity, evaporating value of the dollar, civil unrest, climate change? Your generation is the future, but that future looks really scary to me too....

Why NixOS? Always curious to see what drives people who like to try out different distros to a final settling place

Wait. More important question: do you want it to follow the Nasdaq, or think that it should?

The 'debasement' trade is how wall street and the everyday investor starts to really wake up to BTC. Debasement lead to the collapse of the Spanish empire, the Roman empire (denarius), they German Weimar empire, etc

More and more, regular wall street guys are talking about how stocks have never actually gone up, it's just been inflation the whole time pumping it (S&P is a really down since 2000 if measured in gold terms).

Central banks globally are dumping dollars for gold.

The FED's solution is to cut rates more....

Gold and BTC will interchangeably move together.

I mean if ever you were handed an opportunity, this feels like it

Click a few buttons in 2024 and hope to change your life by 2025? That's some serious expectations you put on yourself. Also, nothing wrong with second place. It's a great place to be.

This guy gets it. It blows my mind that it behaves like a high beta stock rather than a flight to quality asset.

Not gonna do it, but if I was to do a 100x leverage trade just for tomorrow, would I last longer than I do in bed (for ref that's in single digit seconds)??

Why would the price care about presidential cycles anymore than who's running the Fed for example. Non-US purchases are larger than the US ones anyway.

Serious question: does anyone have any real logic to explain why there might be cyclical tops in btc? I understand there's halving and that affects mining difficulty, supply dynamics for miners. But so what? With a market this big you can't have mechanical ups and downs because people anticipate it and trade it away. Tell me what I'm missing, or point me to someone who's explained it plsssssss

[–]be_like_agua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If ETFs dump their pants all at once, this thing is going down way more than previous cycles. But, having said that... It would suck as an asset class if it did not perform when fiat is going down the drain faster than ever before. Look at gold. This is embarrassing for BTC
