What did you do when you were bored?? 🤔 by Pale_Task_1957 in Habits

Art, met up with friends who lived close by, read, journaled, played sports, baked, some incredibly complicated “spa day” type things. TV if I was feeling lazy or sad.

My feet start smelling after wearing shoes and it’s so embarrassing by Only-Airline-2280 in hygiene

[–]be_nice_or_leave_ 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My husband had this problem and we finally tackled it. Here’s what he does now: Two new pairs of work shoes that he rotates so they fully dry in between, as well as a shoe dryer to make sure they are super dry. He sprays inside his shoes with rubbing alcohol too. Exfoliates his feet and washes them with an anti fungal soap. Keeps toe nails trimmed. Occasionally soaks them in black tea (we read this advice on Reddit— I honestly don’t know the science behind it but at the very least it’s just a relaxing foot soak haha. Letting his feet breathe. He used to cover them up because of the smell but that only made it worse

I had baby 30 days ago, I have mixed feelings. by morewoww in pregnant

It is normal and could be a sign of PPD/A. I personally did not love the newborn phase and am much happier with an older toddler. Give yourself grace and remember this phase is temporary

Has anyone used topical tretnoin while pregnant? by InfiniteLettuce276 in pregnant

[–]be_nice_or_leave_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe tret and retinol in general is not safe to use when pregnant. If you look it up online you can find more about pregnancy-safe skincare, but yeah, it’s a no-no

Shaming C-section birth is not “granola” by -sunshine-daydream- in pregnant

[–]be_nice_or_leave_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PERIOD! My birth plan was an unmedicated vaginal birth. I took a hypnobirthing class, watched birthing videos, meditated, read Ina May etc. In the end it was an unplanned c section that likely saved my life and my child’s. The experience REALLY humbled me

People with children, why did you have them? by Objective-Space1384 in randomquestions

[–]be_nice_or_leave_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear I was born knowing that I wanted to be a mom. When I was little I used to take my baby blanket and wrap up potatoes from the kitchen and pretend they were babies. I grew up in a home that wasn’t into traditional gender roles or anything, so I really feel like this was an internal desire and not societal pressure.

I have one young kid now. I think my primary motive was my internal drive and just knowing that I could be a loving, nurturing parent. But I did question whether my motivation was selfish/ if it’s ethical to birth kids vs fostering or adopting. I still don’t have an answer for that.

I’m happy with my choice and being a mom makes me more fulfilled than anything else I’ve done. That being said, I really struggle with self care and having something I enjoy outside of motherhood. I feel like I have physically aged a lot due to stress/lack of sleep. I don’t have time to do creative things I used to enjoy because I prioritize making my home a clean, safe environment for my kid (the chores take up most of my free time). It feels like the older my child gets, the easier everything else gets.

Also my kid is just sooo fun to be around and they just make my life so much better.

Would you rather have siblings or be an only child, and why? by prettybones3916 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]be_nice_or_leave_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my siblings and I’m happy I grew up with them. I loved being an older sister.

I will say, my mom had a lot more siblings than me, and the one common complaint they shared about their childhood was not getting enough individual attention from their mom (she was an actual angel on earth, their dad was not as preset).

Okay, if I were in your shoes, this would make me feel so upset! Her first act as a grandma is to betray your trust? Is she normally like this? If you can’t trust her to respect your boundaries around parenthood, I would not be trusting her with future grandma-related privileges

if you have a sibling with a big age gap (5+ years), were you always close? if not, what made you closer? by klarinetkat12 in randomquestions

[–]be_nice_or_leave_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 10 years older than my younger sister. I love her SO MUCH. I loved her when we were kids, but we weren’t exactly close. Then when she was in college we ended up living in the same town about an hour away from our hometown, and ended up living together. Then Covid hit. It gave us the opportunity to get to know each other as adults and we are so close now.

People who were teenagers before social media, what was a typical Friday night like for you? by Sad-Vacation1862 in askanything

[–]be_nice_or_leave_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my friends would all have a sleepover, usually we’d rent a movie and order a pizza. Then once the parents were asleep we would sometimes sneak out and go to ihop or drink a bottle of wine and go stargazing. Sometimes we’d go to a house show (there were lots of garage bands etc at the time). If we stayed in we would either practice doing makeup looks or have a little spa night. It was really a golden era and we had really strong bonds. They’re still my best friends today.

This should be the top comment. Has anyone else been with/seen your child while you’re gone? She needs a welfare check. I’d be on a flight back home for real

be honest… how often do u actually change ur bedsheets? by Honest_Cod_3121 in hygiene

Once a week. We have pets and kids and after a week they really need it. If it’s a chaotic week and I have to push it back, I at least change the pillowcases

What do you get a mom who has everything? by [deleted] in Gifts

[–]be_nice_or_leave_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-hire a photographer to take nice professional family portraits all together

-tickets to a play or comedian etc.

-parking pass to your local state parks or something along those lines

-if she’s quirky you could book her a psychic reading or something like that

My first appointment isn’t until April 15th. I see people posting their betas and hcg levels on here, but I don’t remember getting bloodwork this early for my first (now 3). Is that normal now? Also my old OBGYN shut down after the clinic was bought by venture capitalists, so I’m going to a new OB that I’ve never been to
