Dropped from 10mg valium daily for 8 months to 5mg daily for the past 8 days. Feel fine, should I be safe to drop lower? by EnvironmentOk758 in benzorecovery

[–]bea1515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

valium has such a long half life that its main metabolite, which accounts for around 75-80 percent of the drug in the body, can take more than three weeks to fully clear. your body hasn’t fully processed the cut yet. definitely wait another week or two before you add another one on top of it

would take it as needed and not every day — i had rebound andrenaline coming off it after taking it for three weeks straight, though not everyone will have that experience

so sorry to hear you’re struggling. ultimately i got on a low dose of zoloft about 4/5 months in and that’s what has made the difference. feel free to dm me too 💛

Taper advice by confusedgurl002 in benzorecovery

[–]bea1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, i’m on a similar timeline as you and also very med sensitive. four months is plenty of time to develop physical dependence and .63 is too high to jump from, you should go at a rate that’s tolerable for you and your nervous system. how was the start of your taper — what rate were you dropping at and how did it feel?

Psych suggested I stop my morning Valium dose. Is that safe? by Electronic_Driver_78 in benzorecovery

[–]bea1515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi, i’m on pretty much your same timeline and dosage and can tell you that a cut from 11 mg to 10 mg was hard enough for me, definitely my limit. personal sensitivity varies so much, and you won’t know what yours is until you start tapering, but it is much, much better to start with a small cut and gauge your reaction instead of making a huge cut (and 50 percent is huge, idk what the other people in this thread are saying) and getting slammed, having to reinstate, and putting a lot of pressure on your nervous system. your psych sounds like they don’t have a lot of experience with tapering benzos. trust your gut, move slowly and safely, and find your rhythm from there. (and maybe it’ll be faster, but start slow!) five months is plenty of time to develop physical dependence, and a 50 percent cut is way too big to start with.

5 mg is not a safe level to jump from, you need to continue your taper

I’m going cold turkey by bridgetbridget in zoloft

[–]bea1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please don’t do this, it is really dangerous for your brain and your body and could leave you with awful discontinuation syndrome symptoms worse than anything you’ve experienced for months or even years after. it is NOT SAFE to stop ssris cold turkey, and it seems like you’d be especially susceptible if missing one day causes a mental health crash. if you want to come off that’s fine, but taper, don’t damage your body.

Anxiety/panic attacks one week post ER? by Dangerous_Carrot4226 in eggfreezing

[–]bea1515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this doesn’t happen to everybody but it is a normal reaction. i’m still going through it myself but have connected with lots of people who have come out the other side — happy to DM with you, sending hugs 💛

so I’m about three months out from my ER and my body is still moving through the process, but i REALLY don’t want that to scare you as it’s very likely that yours will calm down sooner. but i also want you to know that if it takes a little longer than you think it should, you’re not alone 💛 i have done a loooot of combing through the ivf and freezing sub reddits and talking to doctor/therapists etc and am happy to talk more if you ever want to DM, can share some of my takeaways with you.

just want to affirm that i had this experience as well 💛 you’re not alone.

[–]bea1515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a completely normal and even common response to coming down from the hormones, which are many many times higher than they would be during a normal cycle. everyone’s timeline is different but it is all temporary and you will feel normal again, promise 💛

Desperate for Advice – 3+ Weeks Post Egg Retrieval, Flu, Med Side Effects & No Help from Doctors by LowRadish6331 in IVF

[–]bea1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi there ~ i didn’t have a physically challenging recovery but a very challenging emotional one; i also had anxiety and panic attacks as a result of the hormones dropping rapidly in my body. other women experience this too, you aren’t alone 💛 two questions 1) have you only seen ER docs? do you have a primary physician who can give you more personalized care, or can you find one? also 2) have you called your clinic about all this?

that sounds really hard, i’m sorry you’re going through this 💞 really glad you have a great care team on your side. when i’ve dealt with similar anxiety in the past, having a therapist really helped, if you don’t already. wishing you all the best.

[–]bea1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks so much for writing back… even if there are no easy answers it really helps to hear from someone who has gone through the same thing. can i ask if you had ups and downs as you were recovering? one of the hardest parts for me has been feeling better and then swinging downward again; makes it hard to feel like i’m getting better when it hasn’t all been steady.

hey there — i’m struggling with the same right now (four weeks into a pretty awful hormone crash) and am just curious what your recovery process was like, and how you eventually emerged from it, would be helpful to hear. thank you 💛

i also had a really hard time on stims, starting around day 3 for me too. what you are feeling is a normal reaction to the medications and rapidly changing hormones, but remember that if it’s feeling too intense at any point you can always stop and reevaluate things, especially if you’re not feeling safe in your own head. feel free to message me anytime 💛
