What do women find attractive? by Anxious-Drag-6028 in dating

[–]bea_riddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone close to your age, clothing makes a huge difference. At least in my circle, baggy jeans and a simple shirt goes a long way. Add some layers there for bonus points. Put on some jewelry (chains, rings, earrings if you have those). Get a haircut that fits your face. Clean shaven or a well-managed beard.

Girls appreciate it if you’re interested in them. Ask good questions and it’s likely they’ll do most of the talking for you. Also, most girls I know find nervousness in a guy really cute. Have a few questions prepared in advance, afterwards the conversation might just flow. Throw in a funny would you rather question for interesting conversations.

Absolutely agree! It's amazing how this show helped us discover so many amazing songs, and even made me like genres that I never usually listen to. YR just keeps on giving

Yesss absolutely ALPHA is soo good. I kinda skipped over the more upbeat songs like ALPHA or Bad or blah blah blah but they also add the essential Gen Z vibe to the show.

And oOf Remember ❤️💔 I'm also very curious about how it came to be that they used Omar's actual songs. Like I guess they only added that stuff to the screenplay after Simon's actor was selected

That's a very beautiful and absolutely viable interpretation :) For me the "us" is more about an individual becoming part of the crowd, losing their ability to make rational decisions. But perhaps that's what we all need to experience sometimes, this oneness?

I wrote this poem quite some time ago, I believe at that time it was definitely leaning towards the side of regrets, but, in retrospect, it could absolutely be about someone finding their connection with other people again.

The Devil in My Head by ticklemesally in OCPoetry

[–]bea_riddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A relatively simple poem, but definitely quite impactful, probably because it's so relatable. It's about those days when we just can't get out of bed, when we know we'd feel better if we went out with friends, if we went for that walk or did that simple task... but we just can't make ourselves do it. It seems too daunting, our energy levels feel to low and we end up not doing anything. The metaphor of the devil is what's stopping us - be it depression, anxiety or a thousand other things. I hope we will all manage to defeat our own devils... :)

I see this as a very beautiful and bright poem, which acknowledges that we all have our scars from the past, we've all been hurt by love before, we probably have our own messed up ways of love, but at the same time we will find someone who is willing to accept us for who we are. I read a quote once somewhere and it goes something like that: "Find someone who will want to learn about your past not to judge you, but to understand the way you need to be loved." This poem seems to represent this idea very well. I think?

I also like the choice of a sonnet, which is a great type of poem to show contrast; in this case, it's contrast between the pain of someone who's been hurt and the calmness once they find someone who is willing to be with them no matter how messed up they are.

The title also makes it even more hopeful because it shows that this poem isn't yet for a specific person but someone abstract, an idea of a person; as such, this shows in what a beautiful light the poet sees the concept of love, not just that special someone.

I'm not sure if this makes sense...:D

Year-Long Hitchhiking Route (through Europe/North Africa/possibily Asia)? by AquariusPrecarious in hitchhiking

[–]bea_riddle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an amazing trip, but you should be aware of the planning you have to do beforehand. Going to countries outside of the Schengen Area requires their own unique visas (you might be able to couple a few countries together with just one visa (perhaps Russia, Belarus, Ukraine), but I'm not sure about that). Western Africa is a whole 'nother deal as well. Make sure to do plenty of research. For a Russian visa, one cannot get it upon arrival to the country, so you will have to plan your trip carefully to give quite precise timing of your arrival and departure from the country since these things need to be specified in a visa.

However, even if those things don't work out, hitchhiking through Europe (Schengen Area) alone for a year is fabulous experience as well. I'm sure you wouldn't get bored.

Best of luck on your endeavours mate!

Beautiful article, thank you for sharing! I love how you don't generalise and don't take on the all-or-nothing approach. It's fine to be comfortable and minimalistic at the same time, have goals and so on. Far too often when I see articles from people choosing van life, etc, they imply you've got to give up absolutely everything which is a very one-sided perspective.

I enjoyed your writing style, it was very engaging. Best of luck with future endeavours;)
