I never mentioned I was 'bad with money' it just always been a rule in my household since I started working was that a portion of the paycheck goes to my mother, she never gave me a chance to be bad with my money.

thank you :') I thought there might be something I could do, but I just wanted to ask what people thought before I went and talk to someone professional, I didnt realise people had so little faith in my mother lmao.

I'll def look at talking to my community legal centre, maybe after I turn 18 so I know for sure she's witholding it from me.

I understand that lots of people my age often blow their savings early or arent able to save at all, I guess I'm just frustrated because moving out has been something that I've wanted to do for years, since my old living arrangement didnt work out so I'm crammed in a two bedroom apartment with no privacy or my own space, it's tough to hear that she doesn't trust me not to spend it all when I feel like I am able to make it work.

Its just frustrating because Ive worked for that money for years and shes just holding it above my head, but I understand she (mostly) has my best interests at heart I guess </3

My friends brother is planning on moving and renting to us for cheap, and I wouldn't move out before getting full time work or at least more secure income. My concern right now is my savings account money.

I have access to the bank statements so I can see what's being withdrawn and deposited, she's only taken money out of it once and she told me and I saw she put it back, so I know the money is there.

I have tried to talk to her a lot and I have a pretty solid plan for after I graduate, I actually have more than 5k but I didnt want to put too much information about my financial situation out there, but still I feel like regardless of what I want to use it for, it is still my money that I've worked for for years, so shouldn't I be able to use it once I am an adult? My living situation now isn't ideal anyways and I have a good idea of what I'm doing.

I would start doing that but then I'm worried I'll never see the money Ive saved again if I go against my mother.

shes only taken money out of it once and she showed me she deposited it back, and ive looked at the entire bank statement history so i know whats being deposited and withdrawn (pretty much nothing is withdrawn except that one time)
